A skilled team of modders has taken on the ambitious task of bringing the FeMC gender option fromPersona 3to life inPersona 5 Royal. Their mod goes above and beyond by not only changing Joker’s gender, but seamlessly integrating the change into all menus and UI elements. What’s more, the mod even includes a full voice option in both English and Japanese, making it look like it was officially done by professionals. The meticulous work and attention to detail behind the mod are staggering, as can be seen from thenotes on the official mod pageat Gamebanana. The developers have overdelivered by creating new female character models for every scenario in the game, including battle costumes, everyday wear, and special outfits like hoodies and flashback clothing.RELATED:This Game On Steam Was Made By Animating EmbroideryThey didn’t overlook any of the new outfits introduced in the new third trimester either, or even the DLC costumes. What’s more, each of these outfits has its own animations for both field and event scenarios, and the gender change has been taken into account in the UI elements by updating all outfit descriptions and related items accordingly. As most fans are aware, Joker’s spoken lines in the game are few and far between. However, he (or now she) manages to convey a great deal through brief interactions during Mementos conversations, attacks, and persona switches. While these lines may be short-lived and seemingly insignificant, Jun Fukuyama and Xander Mobus’s original performances lent them a great deal of strength and distinction. That said, Alexa Farron’s talent, who provided the English voice acting for Female Joker, is just as impressive. Fans can watch a video showcasing her delivery during battles on Twitter, which feels natural and perfectly fitting for Joker’s character. There’s also a Japanese voice option provided by Maaya Sakamoto (Persona 3’s Aigis), taken from other games she’s done for Fate and Persona 3, so the mod will accommodate both sub and dub enjoyers.

It seems that the mod isn’t just limited to cosmetic changes, but also includes some gameplay adjustments. According to the notes, the Shadow Kamoshida boss battle has been modified, and Ann’s Lover’s Companion now starts without the need for a Kindness level 2.

The music for certain DLC costumes has been changed, and bathroom facilities have been updated to reflect the new gender. NPC conversations have been tweaked in all locations, but the most significant gameplay change is that Joker can now only equip female or unisex protectors, so fans should keep this in mind before installing the mod, as it will have the biggest impact on gameplay.
