Getting stronger personas is thecornerstone of strengthening Joker. While obtaining strong personas will take lots of fusing and getting the right level, DLC allows you to cut a few corners.

The DLC personas are mostly legacy personas from previous games. These range from the starting personas from previous main characters, to their final forms you only get to see in the final battle. These DLC personas can be summoned at any point in the velvet room for free for the first summon. Here are the best ones to look for in your compendium.

Updated By Joshua Leeds On January 28th, 2023:Persona 5 Royal offers multiple DLC personas that players can summon from the compendium upon their first unscripted visit to the velvet room. While they are all incredibly powerful options to choose from, they each excel in different areas, making them all unique in different ways.

Athena In Persona Menu

Athena is a very powerful physical-based persona with a more significant emphasis on its supportive and healing capabilities. Athena comes with the abilities to boost the party’s attack or defense for three turns while also learning the ability to fully heal or revive any fully heal one ally at a time.

This persona starts the battle providing your entire team with a boost to defense, allowing you to start the battle off with the buff instead of using your first turn. Athena also comes with the trait Grace Of The Olive, which allows abilities from this persona to cost nothing when following up from a Baton Pass.

Athena Picaro In Persona Menu

14Athena Picaro

The Picaro version of a DLC persona keeps them mostly similar and are often just an upgraded version. For the most part, Athena Picaro is identical to Athena, learning the same abilities to raise your party’s attack or defense for three turns, along with the same healing spells.

What makes Athena Picaro better is its overall boost to stats making it a bit stronger and the switch from automatically increased defense to increased attack. Often in Persona 5, the player is rewarded by striking first and striking hard, and with an automatic increased attack, you can start any battle with some hard-hitting attacks.

Asterius Being Summoned

13Asterius

While this is not the Picaro form of Asterius, it is still an incredibly powerful fire-based persona. Asterius has an increase in overall fire damage and a boost to the chance of burning enemies, which pairs incredibly well with one of the best fire moves in the game, which it knows.

Asterius comes with the ability to automatically begin each battle by boosting your party’s attack, which is excellent for finishing battles off in a single turn with Titanomachia. Asterius' trait is Frenzied Bull, which increases his damage as his health decreases, allowing you to do incredible amounts of damage even as your health lowers.

12Thanatos Picaro

Thanatos Picaro is a powerful curse-type persona with its focus being more on curse-insta kill abilities. It still comes with one of the best almighty abilities in the game, Door To Hades, which has a chance of insta-killing enemies who barely survive the incredible amount of almighty damage.

This version of Thanatos does suffer from its boost to curse insta-killing enemies with Mudo. While it does have an increased chance, DLC personas have a better likelihood of one-shotting enemies from damage than insta-kill abilities working. This persona also has a passive skill that increases its critical rate, but only when surrounded in battle.

11Magatsu-Izanagi Picaro

Magatsu-Izanagi Picaro comes with heavy wind, almighty, curse, and physical attacks giving it a wind range to always have a strong move to use. This persona also automatically increases the user’s agility, making it much faster for the first three turns of battle to either attack first or debuff your enemies.

This persona does suffer from its reliance on status ailments, as even at a high level, they may not always work. With such a powerful persona, it may also be a waste of time to inflict a status ailment before attacking instead of using a strong attack on both turns.

Magatsu-Izanagi Picaro In Persona Menu

The starting persona for Yu in Persona 4. This is an electricity and physical damage-based persona, already knowing Zionga and Cross Slash when summoned. Cross Slash does two heavy hits and is the best physical attack you’re able to find on a level 20 persona.

Izanagi also has the passive ability God Maker, which boosts the likelihood of allies' special abilities to activate. Your party members each have great abilities and having them activate more often is only a benefit.

9Orpheus (Male)

The starting persona for Makoto is Persona 3. This persona is low enough in level to not break the game and still be a strong persona to use. It learns fire-based spells and is summoned knowing Cadenza. Cadenza is a percentage-based healing spell, healing 50% of all party members making it better than most healing spells in the game.

Orpheus also learns to Endure at level 27, not far from what he is summoned at. This is a great ability to have on Joker as him going down results in an instant game over.

8Tsukuyomi Picaro

The persona of Sho from Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. This persona does very heavy curse and physical damage. Its trait gives it bonus damage when being used in a One More attack, allowing for it to do incredibly high damage on downed foes.

SP conservation in palaces is a major part of the metaverse. Tsukuyomi has Spell Master, decreasing the required SP by 50% for magic attacks. He also has spirit drain, allowing you to directly drain SP from enemies and have more to use within the palace.

Raoul is the next form of Arsene, coming from similar backgrounds, looking incredibly similar, and having all of Arsene’s next-level abilities. Raoul comes with heavy damage curse abilities Ali Dance, which makes half of all hits miss Joker.

Raoul also learns Heat Riser, the best single buff ability in the game raising the target’s attack, defense, and hit and evasion stats for three turns. He also eventually learns to concentrate, which boosts your next magical attack by 250%. After a victory in battle, 8% of health and SP are recovered to Joker.

One of the ultimate personas of Makoto from Persona 3, and the personification of death from Ryoji. This persona focuses on heavy curse damage and severe gun damage. His trait also allows SP costs to be cut in half after a baton pass.

He also has a unique ability, Door of Hades, fitting for this persona’s purpose in the third game. This ability does heavy almighty damage to all enemies and has a medium chance of instant killing any target. Heavy almighty damage is already devastating, and some foes may not even make it past the instant kill.
