Pauley Perrette spilled the tea on whyNCISstars didn’t flood Hollywood with movie roles, and the reason was simple: the show’s “grueling” schedule. With about 24 episodes a season, filming took up most of the year, leaving little to no time for side gigs.

When you’re on a sitcom, you work four days a week. You do a couple table reads, you do it in front of an audience, and then you go home. But for Mark [Harmon, who plays Gibbs], Michael [Weatherly, who plays DiNozzo], Sean [Murray, who plays McGee], and Cote [de Pablo, who played Ziva], when she was there, they work twelve hours a day, nine months a year. Their schedule is grueling.
That left our stars just a couple of months in summer and a short holiday break, not enough for big-screen projects.

But I’m also super, super picky about what I do. There were two different films I was offered — one was a comedy, the other was a drama — and both had something that I thought was offensive. I won’t go against my morality to do a movie.
Especially since, and this is another reason I don’t have time to do other things, I spend so much of my life working for the causes I believe in. When I do have free time, I work with like thirty charities, so there’s always something going on.
Perrette’s passion for storytelling extended to documentaries. She worked onCitizen Lanefor eight years, a deep dive into civil rights activist Mark Lane. The goal? Release it for the 50th anniversary of JFK’s assassination.
Outside of Hollywood,she co-owned Donna Bell’s Bake Shopin NYC, a tribute to her late mother’s Southern baking. Despite the sweets, Perrette herself hadn’t eaten sugar in six years.

The situation is really iffy, and I’m really sad, I’m really angry, I’m so angry. I’ve been speaking out for the fire department for a really long time. I mean my grandpa was a firefighter, my daddy was an assistant fire chief, my uncle was a fire chief, my cousin Wayne was a firefighter.
Her fury? The lack of resources for firefighters.Perrette, whose family has deep rootsin firefighting, has been vocal for years about the LAFD being “grossly underfunded.” With wildfires raging, her plea felt more urgent than ever.
