The actor suffered traumatic chest trauma and orthopedic injuries when his 14,000-pound Sno-Cat ran over him.

Despite the hardships, after various rehabilitation programs, the actor is on the road to fully restoring his health and fitness. And he’s making sure that his fans join him on this wonderful journey as well.

Renner has always been a gym devotee, as seen by the six-pack abs he displayed in his role inHawkeye. However, fitness has taken on a new meaning for the actor. He echoed the same attitude in an interview withMen’s Healthfor their most recent Gym and Fridge series.

After discussing what he eats and what fuels his body, the actor proceeds to display his gym. On the subject of a change in workout since the accident, the actor recalled the benefits of the near-fatal event and added-

Pain doesn’t exist; bad days don’t exist in my life; it’s impossible. It is in our minds and in our power to navigate through that. I know it’s mentally exhausting, but it’s so worth it.

Further, the actor is not afraid to showcase his scars from the accident, as it shows survival and resilience and mentions that they are just reminders of the beautiful day of the accident that could have gone really, really bad.

The actor has now bounced back on his road to recovery in full force; however, this road to rehabilitation also presents its own set of hurdles.

In a recent interview with Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes on theSmartlesspodcast, the actor stated that he was somewhat terrified about his return toactingand added-

I just don’t have the energy for it. Because that takes a lot of time to get right here every day just so I can have a positive thought, so I can progress, so I can always keep growing

Following his injury, the actor returned to the set for the first time this year, in January, to film the third season ofMayor of Kingstown, where he portrays the character, Mike McLusky. However, given the severity of his accident, portraying a series of more challenging roles would be difficult for the actor, at least at the moment.
