Aside from the new tank hero, the big thing for Season 14 is the return – albeit a temporary one – of the classic 6v6 gameplay. Blizzard hasn’t said whether they would keep the mode if it proves to be popular during Season 14, butthe studio did mentionthey want to make a game that players want to play, and if the player base shows they prefer 6v6 to be the primary mode for the game, I can imagine Blizzard adjusting Overwatch 2 to prioritize that.
Overwatch 2’s Season 14 releases at a precarious time, as Blizzard’s hero shooter faces its biggest threat in the form of NetEase’sMarvel Rivalsthat was released yesterday. While NetEase’s hero multiplayer game is in third-person, and has a good amount of melee-focused characters, it also targets the same demographic, and has the same gameplay loop as well.
