One Piecechapter 1127 kickstarted the much anticipated Elbaf arc and it already got fans excited for what’s to come. Usually, Eiichiro Oda begins an arc with a slow buildup, makes the Straw Hats familiar with the new island they embarked on, introduces the villains of that arc and then expands on the rest.
However, in both the Egghead and Elbaf arcs, Oda went straight in and gave fans what they have been waiting for over 24 years! The iconic Monster Trio is finally back, with Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji joining together to fight against a massive cat, which could turn into a lion and use an attack fans haven’t seen since 24 years.
One Piece‘s favorite Monster Trio is back
As the Elbaf Arc ofOne Piecebegins, half of the group decides to split up midway through their journey. The Arabasta group lost contact two days after setting sail with Bonney, Kuma, Lilith, and the Giants.
As everyone else worries for Luffy and the others, Nami wakes up in a strange room. According toOne Piece Chapter1127, they are in Elbaf in a castle where everything is made out of Lego. Nami defeats a giant bee thanks to Zeus’ help.
However, more danger awaits her, as she runs away and stumbles upon Usopp, who is struggling against a giant cat. Taking everyone by surprise, even the readers, the cat can also transform itself into a monster. At the last possible moment, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji show up and unleash a combo attack reminiscent of their move in Arabasta arc, Chapter 162.

It is no surprise for the fans to know that the Monster Trio has always been active inOne Piece. Right from the moment that it was established that this group was incredibly strong, series creatorEiichiro Odahas made sure to highlight them in every arc. It was evident that they are the three strongest individuals in the Strawhat Pirates, and that they have a special competition of sorts between themselves.
Right now, it’s more than obvious that Luffy is the strongest amongst the Straw Hats. With Zoro and Sanji, they are closer to each other in terms of strength, with Zoro holding a slight edge over Sanji in terms of strength. Whereas, Sanji excels in other things, such as speed and overall intelligence.
Fans have seen them work together in almost every arc. Nobody can forget the Thriller Bark Arc, when they fought against Oars and Moria, or, later down the line on Sabaody, when they fought against the Pacifista. But it’s only in the Arabasta arc where the Monster Trio unleashed an attack that fans remember to this day.
The Monster Trio’s signature attack unleashed in Elbaf arc
As they traveled across Arabasta’s deserts, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and the Straw Hats encountered a Sandora Dragon. While most Strawhat Pirates were unprepared to handle this Sandora Dragon, the Monster Trio not only stepped up but handled it in the most explosive way.
When the Sandora Dragon approached, Luffy unleashed Gum Gum Whip, while Zoro used his Dragon Twister and Sanji whipped out his Epaule Strike. While combining their attacks, the Monster Trio defeated the Sandora Dragon and the others in the crew, then proceeded to cook and eat the Dragon and the other beasts. A regular Tuesday for them.
Coming back to Elbaf, Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji fought the bees near the world tree Yggdrasil and easily defeated them. It was also revealed that they had defeated and eaten the Ear God, a huge rabbit from Elbaf. Additionally, they faced the most difficult challenge when they arrived at the castle, where Nami and Usopp were fighting the enormous cat.

Much to the surprise of the fans, Oda recreated the moment from chapter 162 ofOne Piece, having Luffy, Zoro, and Sanji utilize the very same techniques that they did back then. Of course, it’s been over 1000 chapters since then and their techniques have gotten much stronger.
Luffy used what appears to be a Gear Third Gum Gum Elephant Whip, while Zoro and Sanji unleashed stronger versions of their respective attacks. All their attacks combined together to deliver a lethal blow to the giant cat-lion. Fans then got a glorious look at the Monster Trio in the new outfits, where they seek out a bigger force to fight and cause more trouble in Elbaf.
