One of the free games for March includes one of the biggest – and one of the most controversial – games of 2024, that, surprisingly, was added to the service this early on in its lifecycle.

The game I’m referring to is none other than BioWare’s latest release, Dragon Age: The Veilguard. which was released on Aug 25, 2025. This means that less than six months after release, a big-budget AAA title can now be yours for the super-discounted price of free- assuming you’re still an active PS Plus member, of course.
Alongside Dragon Age: The Veilguard, this month’s free offeringsalso include Sonic Colors: Ultimate and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Collection of brawlers that’s more fun than it looks like even if some consider its graphics dated.

With The Veilguard’s surprise and early release on PS Plus, it doesn’t paint a bright picture for EA’s latest AAA blockbuster. While it reviewed well critically, snagging a respectable “Strong” rating onOpen Criticwith an 80 score average across 140 critics, the game was beseiged by controversy due to various reasons, which we’re not going to elaborate here.
EA has acknowledged the game’s poor commercial performance, though the publisher’s head honcho attributes it to the gamenot being a live-service, which I really doubt would have made a difference if it was.

Every Dragon Age Game, Ranked
From Origins to The Veilguard, BioWare’s iconic RPG series is among the best of its kind.
The next project for BioWare is a return to the Mass Effect franchise. The sci-fi RPG is still in productiondespite the layoffs that transpired at BioWaredue to The Veilguard’s disappointing sales performance. Hopefully, the next Mass Effect game fares better when it’s released…whenever that might be.

For the rest of the gaming population that’s not concerned about political signaling or whatever this Dragon Age game is mired in, you have one AAA RPG available to play and complete! Best to redeem it now before it’s gone and you’ll have to buy it.
