Robert Pattinson Desperately Wanted To Work With the Safdie Brothers
Since 2014, Robert Pattinson shifted gears and started focusing on projects that challenged him as an actor. The actor started doing character-driven films and was hungry to discover talents and creators that could provide a new voice to cinema. He discovered a promotional still of the Safdie Brothers’ 2014 filmHeaven Knows Whatand he was immediately drawn to it.
Pattinson toldRolling Stonein 2017 about how he instantly emailed the directors expressing his desire to work with them. He also revealed to them that he believed in their capabilities and did not feel the need to see their previous works to convince him of their talent. He said,

“When I like something, I get unbelievably enthusiastic,” the actor explains with a warm, ingratiating smile. “The first email I sent was like, ‘I’m completely certain that we’re supposed to do something together.’ And they’re like, ‘Have you seen any of our stuff?’ I said, ‘Nope, don’t need to see it. I know.’”
Pattinson’s incredible performance in the film convinced director Matt Reeves that the actor was perfect for his version of Batman as he toldEsquirein 2022. The director has never disappointed audiences with his films and has always brought forward compelling narratives with every release.
Pattinson expressed his excitement about the film and claimed that the film is something that he’s never done before and has a completely unique approach to structure and acting. He toldThe Standard,

“It’s with Parasite director Bong Joon-ho and it’s like nothing I’ve ever done before. The movie is so crazy, it’s a completely different style of working. It’s so much talking.”
