Media Personality, Elea Tsentzelis, also known as Guywiththehair_, posted on X about his experience, and even included a video of his interaction, where heended up paying roughly $900.

In response to scalpers, eBay has been flooded with fake Switch 2 listings at around MSRP.
“So this GameStop is forcing you to buy bundles, cases, screen protectors, etc. They’re claiming they can’t process the SKU just for the console, but we all know what’s going on here.” Tzentzelis alsostatedthat some of the other customers weren’t willing to add extra accessories to their bill andended up leaving empty-handed.

Thevideo posted on Xby Guywiththehair_, shows that even after adding theMario Kart World bundle, a Pro Controller, Donkey Kong Bananza, and a MicroSDcard to hisSwitch 2 pre-order,Tzentzelis was told he still needed to add two more items.(viaGameSpot)
Other customers posted in the comments about similar experiences being pressured into adding warranties, accessories, and GameStop Pro Memberships in order to secure their Switch 2.
A Google review of the Astoria GameStop, posted onApril 28thby local guide Jeremy, states he “Waited in line ahead of the Switch 2 pre-order with a handful of others. To our shock, the store employeesrefused to sell any of us a console unless we purchased a bunch of accessories that none of us wanted.”
Aresponsewas made from the X account GameStopHelp saying, “We are actively investigating this. Any customer who was turned away at the Astoria location should reach out via DM so we can make it right.”

Apparently it’s not just people that are trying to pre-order the new Nintendo console that are experiencing this problem. A Google review by Eliza De Los Santos sharesthe same result when trying to buy aPlayStationPortal.
“Husband and I went in today to get a PlayStation Portal. The person working there tried to fraudulently tell uswe needed to purchase a pro membership to purchase it as it’s considered a console.We walked out,” said De Los Santos. Other Google reviews advise customers of this location to check their receipts before leaving, claiming that warranties were added to the purchase of games without their knowledge.
The demand for the Nintendo Switch 2 has been incredibly high, fans are excited to playupcoming games, and numbers suggest this could be thebiggest console launch of all time.
