Nintendohas announced that it won’t be selling Switch 2 units at three of its own stores in Japan, with supply shortages seemingly being worse than first realized in its home country.
The launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 is nearly here, and it looks like a lot of people won’t have access to the system, even if they pre-ordered it as soon as it became available. Retailers in North America, such as Walmart,have been canceling pre-orderswithout warning, leaving people in the lurch.

One would assume that the Nintendo Stores in Japan would be the one place on the planet where the Switch 2 would be guaranteed to besitting on the shelves. Turns out, that’s not the case, as the official Nintendo Tokro/Osaka/Kyoto Twitter/X account has confirmed that they won’t have consoles or accessories for the time being.

There have been some oddities regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 launch, even outside of the canceled pre-orders. It was recently revealed that Nintendo wasn’tsending out any review unitsfor the system, claiming that it needs a day one patch for a lot of features to be functional.
This strikes a lot of people as suspicious, as it should be easy enough for Nintendo to pre-patch systems and send them out to websites.

However, this hasn’t been done, which means therewon’t be any Switch 2 reviewsat launch, nor for any of its new titles, likeMario Kart World.
The Nintendo Switch 2 launch is nowhere near as troubled as the one Sony and Microsoft faced with their most recent systems, but there are still a lot of lingering questions about thisinitial supply of Switch 2units.
