A new trailer for Bloober Team and Gun Media’s upcoming game,Layers of Fear 2, was revealed. I got to say, it’s really creeping me out.

Okay, it’s not actually creeping me out but it definitely has some horror elements that could, theoretically, creep someone out. This particular trailer is a bit more ambiguous than the previous in that the gravelly voice of narrator Tony Todd states that I’ll “play a part” and that “time waits for no one.”

The cinematic that the narration is voiced over is what really draws your attention. It starts out calm, beginning outside of what is presumably a haunted boat. Besides the voice, it seems pretty tranquil. Once you enter, we see a normal hallway but once the camera turns the corner, we see a very haunted hallway, complete withNightmare on Elm Streetinspired red lighting and self-shutting doors. you’re able to check out the trailer below.

Layers of Fear 2was initially revealed last October alongside a trailergiving us an idea of what tale is being told on this haunted boat. A “Developer Diary” video was also posted going deeper into the game’s development and giving a thorough explanation of what you can expect.

“While working on the sequel toLayers of Fear, we aimed to preserve all that we loved about the first game,” lead designer and producer of the game Bartosz Kapron begins to explain in the dev diary. “The dark claustrophobic interiors, the shifting environments, as well as a rich multi-layered story that will hopefully make the players reflect upon the fundamental things explored in the game.”

The story for the upcoming story is faithful to its predecessor in that it looks to art to portray its psychological tale. This time around, instead of paintings, it’s the history of cinema.

Layers of Fear 2is set to launch sometime this year. However, platforms have yet to be announced. If you want to get an idea of what kind of psychological tale the studio can weave, you can check out the firstLayers of Fearright now for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac.
