Season 1 of My Stepmom’s Daughter Is My Ex is slowly coming to an end as Episode 9 will premiere around the world later this week. Following the release of the upcoming episode, only three more episodes will be left in the series.
The previous two episodes of the show focused predominantly on the relationship between Mizuto and Higashira. Yume and Minami tried everything to make Mizuto fall for Higashira, but nothing seemed to work. And everyone has to admit that Mizuto has no romantic intentions for her.
The first season of the series will run for 12 episodes in total, so there are still a few episodes left for us to watch. The second season has not been announced yet, but given the show’s popularity and its ongoing manga, there’s no reason why the creators won’t greenlight another season of the show.

In the previous episode, Higashira asked Mizuto to show her his book collection. As Mizuto doesn’t have any romantic feelings for her, she states that she feels safe in his room. But, Yume and Minami are still trying to change Higashira in the hope that Mizuto will develop feelings for her.
Minami gives the idea that Higashira should dress like Yume and asks Yume to change her dress to look different from her. Higashira then tries out a skirt, and she starts to feel prettier in this new outfit. She then visits Mizuto and is surprised to see his book collection, and after some time, Yume also joins them.
Higashira starts feeling quite attracted to Mizuto, and she tells Yume that she will always remain friends with him to keep Mizuto in her life. Yume starts to feel jealous, and when Higashira goes to the washroom, she asks Mizuto to help her put her socks on. Mizuto does the same, but Yume starts to feel weird when Mizuto touches her legs. The episode ends with Mizuto wondering if he and Yume could get close enough if they were to remain friends.
