Hunter X Huntermanga is all set to make its grand comeback to Weekly Shonen Jump on June 20, 2025. In March 2024, series creator Yoshihiro Togashi posted on X after a long time, revealing that chapter 401 was finished, while sharing an image showing 19 finished pages.

Togashi’s back continues to be the main hurdle for Hunter X Hunter’s continuation
Yoshihiro Togashi posted on X on September 3confirming that his color manuscript forHunter x Hunteris finished, but it did come at a cost. His back pain has worsened considerably in the past week, prompting fans to urge Togashi to take a break for the sake of his health.

Regardless, the author completed the piece and sent it off to the editor. However, Togashi’s health had deteriorated significantly, but he was grateful to his fans for their support.
Thanks to you all, I was able to hand over the color manuscript to the editor. Your kind words of encouragement and concern have given me strength. Thank you very much.

But, my back has really deteriorated.
The above-mentioned post by Togashi is a follow-up from the one on August 31, where he stated that his back pain was due to his awkward posture while working on color illustrations, which was different from working on black and white manuscripts.
He assured fans that he had treatment and seemed to be fine. However,on September 2, he admitted that his spine is so fragile that it might collapse, like a Jenga tower in its final moments.

I resumed coloring work despite my backbone feeling fragile and like it was about to collapse like a Jenga tower in its final moments. Look forward to my post tomorrow to see if coloring will be completed first or my spine collapses first.
But the update on September 3 showed that Togashi is still alive and was able to complete the coloring for the latestHunter X Huntermanuscripts.

It’s a well-known concern in the fandom that Togashi’s overall health is the main reason whyHunter X Huntercontinues to have major breaks, thus earning the nickname “Hiatus X Hiatus“.

Fans desired Togashi to let his assistants draw the manga for him while he worked on the story, but Togashi is as stubborn as a mule. Despite his fragile health, he has yet to give up on drawing for reasons unknown.
Hunter X Hunter fans are really concerned about Togashi’s health and wish him for his recovery
This caused a division amongst the fandom, in which one section thought that Togashi really didn’t care about his fans and preferred to carry his work to his grave without publishing. While the other section genuinely cares for the mangaka and hopes he’d be alive and well to finish his magnum-opus.
These fans took to Twitter to wish Togashi a speedy recovery, and hoped he’d take frequent breaks while working onHunter X Hunter.

Thank you for this sensei, but please refrain from coloring if it’s detrimental to your healthhttps://t.co/H3e8NExUwO

Thank you Sensei, and please take a 5 years break at least.Your health is most important than HxH 🖤
WithHunter x Hunterslated for an October return, it is hard to imagine Togashi will be getting any rest anytime soon. Therefore, fans realize that if things go extremely dire, the return ofHunter X Huntercan be pushed back to a later time, as nothing is more important than Togashi’s health.
Hunter X Hunteris available to watch on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
