After abrief tease during last month’sMortal Kombat 11revealand adelay last week, NetherRealm Studios has today confirmed that Kabal will indeed be the next character joining the game’s roster.

The news came via today’s edition of the Kombat Kast, which is a periodic live stream series held by NetherRealm to talk about all things related toMortal Kombat. Today’s Kombat Kast was the first that has been held sinceMK11was revealed and the studio didn’t waste any time by announcing Kabal to be joining the roster.MK11director introduced the reveal trailer for Kabal, in which he looked pretty aweseome before NetherRealm spent more time showing off the specifics of the character.

For those unfamiliar with Kabal, he was first introduced back inMortal Kombat 3and comes armed with a set of hookswords which can lead to some brutal combos. Since making his debut, Kabal has appeared in a variety of differentMKgames with the most recent where he was playable being that of 2011’sMortal Kombat. Notably, his appearance inMK11also looks a bit different this time around.

In other new roster moves,Kano was also just revealed to be joining the roster ofMortal Kombat 11a few days back. With both Kabal and Kano now confirmed, we know 10 of the fighters who will be joining the supposed 25-person roster. We’ve also previously seen teases for other characters like Kung Lao and Liu Kang as well, so it seems like we could have a good idea of about half the final lineup at this point.

While Kabal being revealed forMortal Kombat 11is today’s biggest news, it might not be all that we learn about the game today. Microsoft is set to have anew episode of Inside Xboxkick off in under an hour and over the course of the show will supposedly give new details onMortal Kombat 11at that time. We’ll keep you posted if any new information comes out of that live stream.

Mortal Kombat11 is due out on April 23 for PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch. Kabal’s reveal trailer hasn’t been uploaded as of this writing, but we’ll drop it in down below once it goes live.
