There are a handful of ways to getcooking ingredientsin Monster Hunter Wilds. Depending on which specific ingredient you’re looking for, the method of acquiring each is a bit different.
When cooking a dish, there are three slots where players can add cooking ingredients:Ration, Additional Ingredients, and Finishing Touches.

Rations are the main ingredient for cooking recipes and provide an increase in health, stamina, attack, and defense. The most commonRationyou’ll be using is Meat, Veggies, or Fish.
Players can get Rations from the Ingredient Center at the base camp in Windward Plains. These Rations become available periodically, so make sure to check the Ingredient Center every now and again.

Additionally,Meat can be carved from small animals, and Fish can be received byfishing with a fishing rodin bodies of water.
As for the Additional Ingredients and Finishing Touches, which grant passive skills, they can beacquired from the various Item Trade merchantsthroughout the game’s villages and towns.

Each of these merchantshas at least one cooking ingredient, but they aren’t simply purchased with Zenny. These merchants require a specific item or material in exchange for the cooking ingredient.
It’s important to note that not all Item Trade merchants are available from the start and are gradually unlocked the farther you get into the game.
Keep in mind that once an Item Trade merchant is unlocked, you may have to complete their side quest for the cooking ingredient to become available in their inventory.
Speaking ofside quests, completing them is anothergreat way to earn various cooking ingredients. While not everyside questrewards the player with cooking ingredients, I noticed that a good amount do.
Make sure to speak to every character with a green dot above their head to accept a side quest and complete it to possibly earn a useful cooking ingredient.
