Warzone 2 and DMZare two of the biggest additions brought intoModern Warfare 2. The Victus XMR isa brand-new Sniper Rifleintroduced in Season 1 and is accompanied by the M13B Assault Rifle and the BAS-P Submachine Gun. This new Bolt-Action Rifle is amongthe best Snipers in the game,trading speed for high damage. Boastinghigh range and superb accuracy, it is no surprise that this weapon will dominate in long-range combat. This makes it a perfect weapon for Warzone 2.
Updated by Nathan Round on 7th March 2023:We have updated our Victus XMR build with attachment recommendations that will prove more viable for Warzone 2. We have also offered additional details on how to unlock the Victus XMR in Season 2 and beyond.
Unlocking The Victus XMR
While most weapons can be unlocked by simply ranking up or leveling up weapons within the same Weapon Platform, Season 1’s roster of weapons follow a different set of rules. The Victus XMR is afree reward within the Season 1 Battle Passand can befound at Sector A7. The fastest way to unlock this Sector is to go straight from A1 to A2, then to A4, and finally to A7. In order to progress from one Sector to the next, you must first unlock all the rewards in the previous sector.The Victus XMR is a HVT reward, meaning that you need to acquire every other reward in the Sector before you can claim it.
Once Season 2 is over, you are unable to unlock the Victus XMR through the Battle Pass. Instead, you’re able to either purchase a Store Bundle that contains a Blueprint variant for the Victus XMR, or extract with it in Warzone 2 DMZ.

Battle Hardened & Double Time
Fast Hands
Stun and Flash Grenades are going to be your worst enemy if you are the kind of Sniper that sits in one spot. So, go ahead and equipBattle Hardenedas your first Base Perk. This willreduce the effectiveness of Flashes, Stuns, and Shock Sticks, as well as offer immunity to Snapshot Grenades. You have room to experiment with your second Base Perk as Scavenger is not exactly needed. However, we recommend you useDouble Time to improve your mobilityby increasing your Tactical Sprint duration.
Your Bonus Perk should definitely beFast Hands, allowing you toquickly draw out your swap-to-weaponshould anyone get too close. Fast Hands will also drastically increase your reload speed, which is great to compensate for the slow reload of most Snipers. Lastly, go ahead and chooseGhost. Ghost will prove exceptionally useful forkeeping you off the mini-map, especially if you have found a pretty good spot to camp in.
For Warzone 2 however, go ahead anddrop Battle Hardened for Overkill. This will allow you to equip an additional primary right from the get-go.
The Best Secondary
You can definitely benefit from running a reliable swap-to-weapon to use in close-quarters engagement, as Snipers tend to be rather slow in this regard. Therefore, consider running theX13 Autoas your secondary. This Machine Pistol is great up close due to itsfast fire rate and quick draw time. To increase its viability, make sure to equip an extended magazine attachment for extra ammo capacity.The X13 Auto is unlocked by leveling up the X12.
Our Warzone 2 secondary recommendations differ slightly, as we feel that running an additional primary weapon is necessary. For this case, consider pairing the Victus XMR with anAssault Rifle.TheTAQ-56,theISO Hemlock, andtheM4are all superb choices in this regard due to their effective range and versatility.
