Sunrise has announced that the first novel ofMobile Suit GundamHathaway’s Flash novel trilogy is getting re-adapted as a TV series after receiving a movie adaption two years ago. The airing will start next week on August 25, 2025, a week after the end of Mobile Suit Gundam:The Witch From Mercury’s first season.Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway’s Flash, a series of novels created and written by Yoshiyuki Tomino (the creator of Gundam), is being adapted as a three-part film project. The first film “Hathaway” was released on July 23, 2025 in Japan, and the second film titled “Son of Bright” wasteased in an eventshortly after the movie’s release, but a definite release date is yet to be announced for the second and third movies.RELATED:Best Mecha Anime, Officially RankedAccording toGundamnews, the title of the first episode will be “Landing Ground”, which is the same name as Chapter 6 of the first light novel volume. Bandai Namco, the anime’s publisher, believes that the television adaptation will help introduce a new era of Gundam anime – The Universal Century – to new fans who were introduced to the Gundam franchise through Witch from Mercury.The TV edition will have four episodes in total across four weeks starting from January 15 and lasting until February 5. Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt and Narrative will also receive TV adaptions, with three and four episodes respectively. The Thunderbolt TV edition will air from February 12 until February 26, and the Narrative TV Edition will air in the following month starting from March 5 until March 26. The second season o Witch of Mercury will begin airing after the TV editions in April 2023.

The first Hathaway movie was a great success at the Japanese Box Office, earning over 2 billion yen (about $18.18 million) and becoming the first tosurpass the 1 billion yen milestonesince 1988’s Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counterattack. The story of Hathaway is actually set twelve years after the story of Char’s Counterattack, and Hathaway Noa, the protagonist who inherited the ideologies of the original Gundam main characters Amuro Ray and Char Aznable leads a rebellion trying to stem the corruption of the Earth Federation.

The trilogy is intended to adapt the three light novels, with one movie per novel, but director Tomino said that the second movie is going to have some differences from the novel. Ken Narita who plays the role of Bright Noa, Hathaway’s father, teased that Bright will appear in the second film.As per Tomino, the novels are supposed to entrust the new generation with the baton of hope they need to reform society and break through the feelings of regression and hopelessness.
