InMarvel’s Midnight Suns, The Abbey is a sprawling, ancient manor where all the heroes live together, hangout together, and train to fight evil together. It serves at the home base for players too when they use The Hunter to explore, unlock, and socialize throughout the story. It’s in The Abbey that players will build relationships, bond with each hero, and develop their fighting strategy in between each battle of explosive superhero combat.

The Abbey presents a beautiful and mysterious home for the heroes throughout the story of the game. However, the many crafting, upgrading, relationship-based, and training options that unlock by the late game are somewhat staggering. So whether a new player or an old pro, here’s an easy guide on The Abbey and how to best use its resources.

Imprisoned inside the basement of The Abbey, The Hellforge is actually a fire demon that Doctor Strange and Iron Man use to unlock mission rewards and craft upgrades.Research is one of the most important aspectsof the entire Abbey, so players should pay special attention to the different Abbey upgrades, mission progress points, and quality-of-life improvements that researching through The Forge can offer.

Marvel’s Midnight Suns the forge

Each mission’s victory grants players with aGamma Coilthat can beunlocked by Tony Stark. These offer a round of new hero cards to choose from based on rarity.Doctor Strange can also unlock any Artifactreceived from battle and these give Essence, Combat Items, and other currency. Vital for upgrading the heroes' Legendary Abilities, it’s at The Forge where players can also craft blueprints.

Item Crafting

Eventually, players willunlock the crafting stationlocated justbehind The Forge. Here, players cancraft Combat Itemsthat they can use in the heat of battle. The development of better quality Combat Items can be achieved through Research at The Forge. Also, as the game progresses, players can unlock multiple slots for Combat Items, which gives a new opportunity for strategy and unique builds during battles.

Acting as the main training grounds, superhero hospital, and place for hero ability upgrades, The Yard is another element vital to The Abbey during the daytime. Players will find it absolutely necessary tovisit The Yard each and every daybecause several of its most impactful activities can only be done once a day. Eventually, players can also unlock"Combat Therapy"which speeds up heroes' recoveries and gives in-battle bonuses when they’ve recovered.

Sparringis an important aspect of The Yard andshould be done daily. It’s the go-to way to maintain Hunter’s relationships with the others heroes when there are noHangouts, conversations, orHavensavailable. Players can spar as Hunter against one superhero each day with the interaction giving bonusFriendship points, XP, and currency rewards. Sparring also helps lower level characters keep from falling too far behind can be a decent way to keep some lesser-used characters relevant.

Upgrades & Mods

The Yardis also the place toupgrade each hero’s abilities. This is especially important because once a hero has3 copies of a certain card, they can upgrade that abilityto give it bonus characteristics and better stats. By the end of the game, most of the heroes available should have a majority of upgraded cards in their decks. Mods also offer another level of adding stats to cards and decks. However, mods are randomly assigned, so a player can ‘gamble’ on spending their resources on mods, but they are mandatory for the late-game builds of any heroes.

T.H.R.E.A.T. Room

The T.H.R.E.A.T. Room opens up after significant progression into Midnight Suns' main story. Once it does though, it becomes the central place for getting specific heroes a large chunk of individual XP. With its own unique mechanics and enemies, this fighting portal that gets opened by Magik is a fantastic way toboost current favorites and keep lower level heroes from falling off. However, some hero decks that work in teams may have to be changed to survive the T.H.R.E.A.T. Room and players should adapt accordingly.

If The Forge and The Yard are for preparation and planning, theWar Room is for pure offense, overt and covert. Housing Captain Marvel’s intelligence hub, sending heroes on intelligence-collecting missions, and choosing each mission from the Mirror Table are all part of the War Room’s offerings. Directly choosing missions from theMirror Table has its own strategybecause Midnight Suns can be aresource-intensive game.

When choosing missions, keep a close eye on what each one offers as a reward. Intelligence payoff will happen in the War Room too as players can also exchange resources for blueprints and currency through the Shield Exchange in C.E.N.T.R.A.L.

C.E.N.T.R.A.L.

Intel Cache Decryption and Hero Opsare the main tools that C.E.N.T.R.A.L. offers to players in The Abbey. The source of an intelligence cache can come from either missions assigned from C.E.N.T.R.A.L. or from interrogating enemies on the battlefield. If done with the Intel hub, players will then need to choose to assign heroes to off-screen missions. During this time, heroeson Intel missionswill be unavailablefor regular, turn-based combat.

The Library

Aside from the ghost of Agatha constantly loitering, The Library in Midnight Suns is full of ancient texts, spooky spells, and some good recipes for shawarma. Players shouldcontinually check for books to readfor some extra XP and currency, as thebooksavailable willchange every few days. The Library is also the location ofAgatha’s CauldronandBlade’s Book Clubmeetings, if players choose to be a part of the club. Having Captain Marvel, Captain America, Blade, and eventually Wolverine, have a legit book club in Midnight Suns is just plain enjoyable. No spoilers on plot twists for the Book Club here, but The Library’s main combat benefit comes from Agatha’s Cauldron.

Agatha’s Cauldron

After progressing into the main Midnight Suns missions enough, Agatha’s big witches-brew cauldron will show up in The Library. It’s here that any Reagents or plant life that players have collected can be used. The Cauldron can craft Combat Items, exchange Reagents for different essence types, make gifts for heroes, transmute Wundagore Everbloom, and develop ingredients for Research.

Hunter’s Quarters & The Barracks

The Barracks and Hunter’s Quarters are where all the heroes have their personal space. Periodically, the bedroom of the other superheroes will be open, giving Hunter a chance to check out personal items, socialize, and continue to customize any picture frame in The Abbey. Aside from decorating picture frames with their in-game pics, Hunter has a large amount of customization options for their bedroom. Players can choose colors, decor, and furniture to add to Hunter’s room, where they will sleep after every mission and wake up bright and early in the morning.
