A good thing to focus on upgrading is what kinds of beams the Power Suit can fire. From small projectiles, missiles, or giant blasts, some enemies only fall with certain beams. The shooter-stylerobot arm on the Power Suit is the best at slaying whatever beasts come in the way. The Charge Beam is very useful, even essential, to gameplay. It’s quick for shredding through enemies and good to charge up and blast away opponents.
Obtaining The Charge Beam
To get the Charge Beam, go to Chozo Ruins. From there, go to Watery Hall. Watery Hall is located to the left of the furthermost save station, all the way near the end of the ruins. This room has many platforms to jump across, missing one will damage the suit until making it back onto a platform. Presenting itself at the second platform, a limb with a scythe-like claw is sticking out. Shooting it will get it to go away, but this must be done every time passing through that platform is required to get somewhere. There are five signs located in the Watery Hall that must be scanned to unlock the Charge Beam.
Going into Watery Hall, go to the first platform and spin around. There will be a sign right against the wall that needs to be scanned.

Traverse to the fourth platform, the long platform located near the middle of the room. This platform will have a sign on the platform itself, on the front end of the platform.
Keep going forward until you reach the end platform. There’s a sign against the wall, located right in the middle.

Head all the way back to the start, being wary of the limb that’s ready to attack the way back. Once reaching the starting door, go up the platform presented on the other side of the door. Go up the platforms all the way to the end. There is another limb on the top platforms, located on the longer bent platform.
There will be a big door there, presenting the signs scanned thus far. Two shouldn’t be glowing at this point. To the right, the fourth sign is located there. Scan the sign, then scan the sign located on the middle door. The fifth and last will be directly in the middle of all the others on the door.

Once all the signs have been scanned, the door will open. Behind the door is the Charge Beam. Walking up to it, collect it and the cutscene will commence. There will be a text prompt confirming that it has been acquired and then the Power Suit will be able to use the Charge Beam at any point in time.
