Neuras is an old friend of the royal family and an acquaintance of Hulkenberg, who is the intermediary through which he meets the protagonist’s group.
The engineer was hired to create a next-generation Gauntlet Runner for the prince, but all his work was nearly in vain after the boy was cursed.

However, when the protagonist joins the royal race for the throne, Hulkenberg convinces Neuras to offer both his technological expertise and the Gauntlet Runner to save the prince.
The engineer agrees, thus becoming an integral member of the team, though his interests lean more toward technological discoveries than genuinely saving the world.

Neuras Bond Ranks Explained
All interactions with Neuras occur within the Gauntlet Runner, but depending on your playstyle, the engineer might be one of the most missable Bonds in the game.
That’s becauseNeura’s rank advancement is tied to exploring optional dungeons. On the brighter side, there are no Virtue requirements.

If you only focus on the main campaign, you won’t find most relics that will trigger an interaction with Neuras and increase his rank.
However, if you’re doing everythingMetaphor: ReFantaziohas to offer and exploring every dungeon in the game, you’re likely to come across all relics during your regal journeys.
We won’t show the exact locations of the relics since the game itself does this. Upon entering a dungeon that houses a relic, Gallica will notify you right at the start. Then, the game will mark a chest on the map containing the relic—easy-peasy.

This initiates the “Providing a Spark” request. To complete it, we need to go to Komero, and the most efficient way to unlock the town is by accepting the bounty “The Man-Eater In The Mine.” Doing so will unlock the Man-Eater’s Grotto, and Komero will be on the way.
In Komero, the group will automatically discover that Neuras’s old friend has passed away but left behind an Inventor’s Journal, which we’ll immediately deliver to the engineer, triggering a new Bond.

You’ll find the Screwed-Up Mineral inside the dungeon, which is hard to miss since the chest is marked on the map. Afterward, interact with Neuras at night to hand over the relic.
Until then, Neuras doubted the journal’s authenticity, but it’s now proven genuine. He explains that his old friend loved to play pranks on him, hence his skepticism. Once, the man even scared him while dressed as a monster, which is why Neuras is easily spooked.
The engineer examines the relic and identifies it as part of a larger whole. Consequently, he asks the group to hunt down the next piece, starting the “Relic Search: Dregs of Destiny” request.

Upon delivering the item to Neuras, he starts reminiscing about his past and even mentions that he was once engaged. However, because he was so obsessed with his career, his fiancée grew tired of waiting for him.
The engineer remarks that his only passion now is the Gauntlet Runner and thanks the protagonist for rekindling that flame. He then sends you on another relic hunt, beginning the “Relic Search: Youth’s Folly” request.

Delivering this relic to the engineer leads him to muse on the dangerous applications of igniters and how they can affect a user’s life. He mentions that he was once invited by the government to take part in igniter development.
Neuras says he declined, but many of his engineer friends accepted, more out of love for technology than for money. These igniter experiments are the same facilities that used paripus as test subjects, a subject referenced in other storylines, likeBasilio’s.
Finally, Neuras says that his inspiration is to create inventions that spark dreams, not death and destruction. Once again, he asks you to seek the next relic, starting the “Relic Search: Engineer’s Destiny” request.

The engineer rummages through his belongings and finds a seventh relic at his house, leaving just one more.
Returning home makes Neuras feel nostalgic. He says it was there that his dreams of conquering the skies first took root. The engineer believes he can do that if he stays by the protagonist’s side. The “Relic Search: A Dream’s Origin” request then begins.

Must find the Stitched Sphere in Mt. Vulkano
This is Neuras’s final relic hunt. There are two ways to open the path to Mt. Vulkano: the first is byleveling up Eupha’s Rank, and the second is by accepting “The Edge of Glory” request from the Ornamented Man in Sunshade Row in Grand Trad after 9/13.
Mt. Vulkano is quite maze-like, involving a lot of drops and stairs. But as always, the relic will be marked on the map, so the easiest way is to follow it for guidance.
Neuras confirms there are eight relics in total, but instead of celebrating, he apologizes to the protagonist. He reveals that all the relics were stolen.
He explains he felt watched for a while, and since his garage was unlocked, someone took the opportunity to seize all the relics. The engineer begs the protagonist to recover his relics.
Neuras suggests speaking with a guardsman in Grand Trad near the recruitment center. The “Petty Thief” hunt request begins.

Must defeat Jin the Charlatan in his Gauntlet Runner
The first step is to head to Grand Trad and talk to the Grand Cathedral Guard near the recruitment center. He mentions hearing candidate Jin talking about relics. This unlocks the location of Jin’s Gauntlet Runner on the map.
You’ll enter a battle against the candidate upon reaching Jin’s Gauntlet Runner. Jin the Charlatan will be accompanied by two mobs, but the battle is easy if you’ve been doing all the side content up to this stage in the game.
After winning, you’ll recover all the relics and automatically deliver them to Neuras. With all eight gathered, the engineer realizes they’ve transformed into a weapon of mass destruction capable of obliterating the entire world.
Neuras then asks the protagonist what they plan to do with the relics, but regardless of the answer, he suggests destroying them all—and does so.
The engineer recalls why he became one in the first place, claiming that technology is not meant for selfish purposes. His goal is to better people’s lives and make them happier. With his resolve renewed, Neuras again pledges his support to the royal candidate, thus completing his Bond.
