Melissa Barrera is Not Going to Back Down

In November of 2023,Melissa Barreraposted a pro-Palestine story on her Instagram, denouncing the ‘genocide’ happening in Gaza. Soon after, Spyglass, the production company behind the Scream franchise, dropped the actress from their upcoming movie,Scream 7.

They said they had no tolerance for antisemitism in their midst and decided to let go of the actress. In theirstatement, the company said,

Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Hayden Panettiere, and others in Scream 6

“Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”

This led to a lot of disappointed and equally upset fans, who thought the move was very wrong. Barrera has been vocal about the war going on in Gaza and did not back out from sharing herviews, even after she was let go from the franchise.
