Gamescom Opening Night Live gave us a chance to look at a brand-new trailer for the upcoming game,Civilization 7, and it looks like the new title feels familiar to the last one, even though there’s new content to look forward to.

Civilization 7 Arrives in February 2025

With a multi-platform focus,Civilization 7is set to release on February 11th next year. The game will arrive on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

Building on the foundations of older games, the upcoming title will largely focus on historical themes and strategic planning that make the gameplay loop so addictive yet fresh every time you jump into a game.

However, fans are noticing that much of the game looks strikingly similar to the previous one, but maybe this is only true for its visuals. We’re yet to see detailed gameplay for everything that makes this series so popular.

New Personality, Same Archetype

While Gamescom 2024 gave us a very short look atCivilization 7, it’s safe to say from the trailer alone that these are familiar territories we are stepping into. Whether you’re playing as a world leader who’s military-focused or someone who wins the game by scientific glory, there’s a lot to expect.

Even though players aren’t new to the game’s core mechanics, the new title will likely focus on immersion, rather than re-inventing the wheel. Cities will feel denser, and armies will feel more powerful, the more you focus on building your empire.

In the past, the games have been unironically famous for keeping players engaged for hours as they build a civilization from scratch. Sometimes, directions change, and they may even end up destroying their growth, which leads to another game where things could be different.

Developers are aware of this, and the game will focus on building on this experience. Some of the core elements include diplomacy, city expansion, and management of resources.
