Lately, Dakota Johnson has been battling a sea of negative criticism. Ever since the trailer for her critically blasted superhero movie,Madame Web,first debuted, the actress has suffered trolling. The negativity only intensified once the Sony flick was released, and the aftermath of it can still be felt.

After herdisappointing feat in Sony’sMadame Web,Dakota Johnsonhas no plans to slow down. TheFifty Shades of Greystar will next be seen along withSean Pennin the Indie feature titledDaddio. Being described as a character study, Johnson plays a passenger princess called Girlie, while Penn plays her cab driver, Clark.

The movie features Girlie’s ride from the John F. Kennedy Airport in New York City to Hell’s Kitchen. While on their way, the two form a sort of emotional connection, with Girlie being determined to understand Clark’s real self. Written and directed by Christy Hall, the movie first debuted at the Telluride Film Festival last year and will now be released in theatres.
Executive producer Ro Donnelly stated toIndieWire, that Girlie is a pretty emotionally reflective role, who holds her power.

“Because she is our generation of women who are still approaching these men in a nonjudgmental way because it’s fascinating. We’re not threatened by it. And that reveals her power, the fact that she holds her own. She really is reflective of all the women who made this movie, she’s our girl.”
