Throughout each Yakuza entry, the Amon gang has become notorious for being one of the most challenging secret boss fights, from one-on-one encounters with Kiryu or multi-man brawls as seen inYakuza 4andYakuza 5.

And with the latestLike a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza, the Amon clan once again emerges, this time with a challenge to the Goro Pirates, andhere’s the neat part: you must beat them in two separate fights, one on the ship and then a duel against Taiyo Amon.

Time for a little academic dishonesty.

Thankfully, with the detailed guide I’ve prepared, I’ll go over everything in detail to win these two bouts and reap their rewards, and possibly nab that Platinum Trophy like I did towards the end.

Prerequisite:You’ll soon be able to accept the Ultimate Pirate Crew Showdown bout against the Amon Pirates once you’ve beaten every major bout in the Madlantis Coliseum across the four main categories

How To Prepare Against The Amon Pirates

Since the first bout is a ship battle, I’ve listed below the exact loadout I used for the Goromaru. An obvious reminder to remember is tohave the ship fully upgraded;otherwise, you’re not going to survive a single minute here.

As for Majima and his latter battle against Taiyo Amon, it’s generallyrecommended that you grind moneyfrom bounties so you have ample cash to min-max Majima’s health and get all the abilities, especiallythe best ones I’ve narrowed down in a list.

While you’re at it, bring a few bottles of Sake because Majima’s drunken state will help recharge the heat gauge faster during the fight.

Generally speaking, bring as many healing items as possible, including tons of Staminan Royales and their variants, since Taiyo Amon can destroy you with his attacks, especially if you’re a maniac like me trying to beat him on the Professional difficulty.

Once you’ve completed the prep work and ensured that you’re ready, take on the Ultimate Pirate Crew Showdown in the Tournament of Captains section of the Coliseum.

How To Defeat The Amon Pirates

I’ll try to keep this brief and short; the main strategy of this fight all comes down to efficiently using your boosts and drifting techniques to evade the Amon Crew’s ship attacks, and oh man, they hit like a ton of bricks if you’re careful enough.

The first attack is the homing air missiles, which you’ll get introduced to right from the opening, and if you miss them like I did on the first try, they’ll practically one-shot you, so make sure to use your boost against them and steer the Goromaru to the side to evade them.

The second major attack is the mortars, which will activate in a series of small AOE blasts that you should promptly avoid when at close range. The same could be said for the exploding barrels, but their placement is pretty random, so attempt to steer between them if possible.

Lastly, the Amon Crew loves using the Laser Cannons to melt Goromaru’s health, and the worst part is the combination of that with the Flame Cannons, which can set the ship ablaze and force you to extinguish the flames by going into Deck Mode.

You can also assign a First Mate who provides additional Fuel/Smoke Bomb resources via their First Mate Traits, which can provide a helpful advantage to the fight.

With all these arduous attacks, the plan of action to follow here is to play it safe; use the Frost Machine Gun to freeze and stunlock the ship, and never risk letting the Amon Pirates bombard you with attacks at close range unless you have an opening.

If you’re low on health, throw a smoke bomb and be extremely quick with your decision-making skills whilst the ship is repairing to dish out damage with the rocket launcher or revive any fallen crew members on the Port and Starboard sides.

The Amon Pirates' ship has a total of 10,000 HP, so you’ll need to whittle it down patiently, and after you’ve done that, it’s time to board the ship and initiate a deck battle to finish them off.

It’s-a me, Majima!

Battling The Amon Pirates On The Deck

With your strongest crew members on the boarding crew, the deck battle is the last attrition test here as you battle over 50 crew members of the Amon Pirates, and just like their founding leaders, they’ve got some ridiculous tricks up their sleeve here.

Having Noah and Kamulop on your support crew will benefit you greatly due to their damage resistance and healing properties.

Like any other deck battle, focus on thinning out the numbers, and if you’re heading into the fight with a pre-maxed-out Madness Gauge, let it rip andsummon the Sharks using the Dark God’s Saxophoneto cause massive damage on the deck.

Timely counter the support attacks of the Amons because their flaming boomerangs and lightning strikes can decimate your crew unless you quickly heal them back up using your own support crew rally attack.

Pick off any remaining stranglers, properly utilize your crowd-control heat actions, and this fight should be over relatively quickly as long as you have a powerful,max-level boarding crewat your side.

How To Defeat Taiyo Amon

With the crew out of the equation,Taiyo Amon approaches Majima and declares a final duel between the two captains with the Ultimate Captain’s Showdown battle.

Now, I’d prefer if you could pre-charge your heat, drunk state, and Madness gauge before heading into the fight to give you a bit of assurance, but it’s not a major necessity.

Taiyo Amon uses Majima’s Sea Dog style for the first phase and a loose rendition of Kiryu’s Rush style for phase 2. He’ll also always begin the boss fight by using the Chain Hook to swing behind you to dish out a combo, so make sure you sidestep/dodge it.

The key to making this fight a breeze is to use short attack strings from the Mad Dog Style and perform combo-cancels.Amon will always either counter quickly with a hyperarmor strike (which you’re able to parry) or sidestep and follow up with another attack.

The most imperative section of this fight is when he reaches phase 2 (Gray health), where Amon will summon his own doppleganger clones and homing knives, which is where you’ll most likely die in the blink of an eye without being able to process what happened.

Taiyo Amon’s clones can mow you down at close range, so quickly use a healing item or two to counteract if you get caught in it.

The trick to overcoming this is to summon your own Mad Dog clones simultaneously as Taiyo, create enough distance to avoid the homing knives, and then quickly take out or dish out damage to a clone without Taiyo bumrushing you down as I’ve demonstrated in the video above.

I strongly recommend having the Stone Ring equipped to guard and block gun damage from the Amon clones.

The clones can take the aggro of the opposing ones and the subsequent knife summons, so I strongly advise dealing as much damage as possible to remove any of them, since this’ll be the only time Taiyo summons them.

With you and Amon left alone again, he’ll only use the homing knife attack now, so be sure to hold down the block button (L1/LB) to fully negate their damage. It’s a straight shot from there, so just keep whittling away at his health safely yet aggressively, and you should be fine.

For finally defeating Taiyo Amon, you’ll be rewarded with 50,000 Rep, a base cash prize of $50,000 (which can be multiplied depending on the rank you achieve), and the Champion’s Ring, which gradually increases your Heat while in combat.
