How To Unlock Cooking
Since cooking is acore mechanic inPirate Yakuza, you’re introduced to it extremely early, almost within the first hour of gameplay, when Noah brings you back to the beach where he found you. He’ll show you a small kitchen stove, along with some pots you can plant your seeds in.
Goro Goro Kitchens
Once you’re on the cooking menu, you’ll find a bunch of different recipes for homemade meals, which are consumable items that are alternatives to restaurant meals or typical healing items bought from stores. You can cook them with Goro Goro Kitchens, which can be found in most areas of the game.
Here’s a list of every Goro Goro Kitchen inLike a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza:

How To Cook Meals & Raise Your Chef Level
As you cook more and more, you’ll increase your chef level, expanding the number of recipes and dishes that you can create. There are roughly three types of dishes that have different purposes:healing, charging the Heat Gauge, andboosting your crewmates' stats.
you may prepare amaximum of three of the same dishes at a time, each incrementally increasing the difficulty of their respective minigames, ranging fromEasytoInsanely Difficult.

The potency of your dishes relies on thequality of your ingredients and performance. The game will average out the stars of each ingredient, giving you a base “expected” result, which you may then increase by how well you perform during the cooking minigames.
There are five types of ingredients that you may collect on your adventure through Hawaii:

The more dishes you create, the harder the minigames will be.
Cooking Minigames
There arethree minigamesthat each dish will require you to complete to create your masterpieces, each with its unique challenges.
You’ll see a progress bar at the bottom of your screen, which you’ll need to complete within the time limit. Mistakes can slow you down, so be sure to approach these minigames carefully if you want to make the perfect dish.
While the game gives you the basic rules of each minigame, here’s a tip on how to get better at them.
Breathing Fire
This minigame is all abouttiming and reaction speed, as you’ll need to hold a button to increase a gauge and release it at the right time.
On higher difficulties, the red bar is much, much smaller. Try focusing your sights on the red area and release right as the meter touches the yellow bar.Better to be early than late.
Slicing And Dicing
For this minigame, you’ll need to press buttons in the correct order to slice and dice your ingredients.
Greater difficulties willcomplicate the patterns, but they are still patterns, as most arevariations of a circular pattern(e.g., left up, right down) oralternating pattern(left, right up, down).
Begone Scum
Hold down a button to skim the scum that will appear out of the broth.
On higher difficulties, the broth will spin, which makes things arguably much easier, as you may simplyhold down the ladle and collect the scum to scoop them all in one fell swoop.
As Majima’s chef level increases, so will his repertoire of recipes. Here’s a complete list of dishes you’ll be able to make, along with effects.
