The complete version of Last Epoch is finally here with a significant number of new features that will encourage you to come back even if you have already experienced all parts of the game in the Early Access version. But if you are among those who areplaying Last Epoch for the very first time, then there is a lot to learn.
Last Epoch: Beginner Crafting Guide
Crafting is a core mechanic of Last Epoch that’s intimidating at first but very accessible once you get into it. Here’s how to get started.
Similar to most ARPGs out there, Last Epoch also features multiple character classes, and the game does tell you about Basic and Mastery variants of each class from the very first moment that you get to pick your adventurer — however, you won’t be unlocking Mastery variants right away.

How To Unlock Mastery
There are two major requirements to unlocking Mastery: First, you need tospend 20 Points on your Basic Passives. Then, you mustcomplete Chapter 2 of the main campaign, which unlocks access to the End of Time Era in the game.
By pressing"S"in-game, you can open up yourPassives menu. As you level up in the game, you will earn more Passive Points to spend. Usually, you don’t get 20 Points before completing Chapter 2 unless you killa lotof enemies, explore every corner of the world, and complete all side quests.

Seek Out The Forgotten Knight
Chapter 2 begins when you teleport to the Ruined Era and ends after killingThe Husk Of Elder Pannionas the final boss. After this fight, you will enter theEnd of Time Erathrough a portal. If you head to the northwest of where you spawn, andtake the spiral path up behind the Gambler, you will meetThe Forgotten Knight. This will complete the first part of the"Power of Mastery"quest and allow you to choose your character’s Mastery. Keep in mind thatchoosing your Mastery is a permanent decision, and it cannot be undone or changed once selected. So, make sure to choose the one that fits your playstyle well.
Once you complete both requirements, you can now spend points on theMastery Passivesas well, which grant even more powerful buffs to your character.

If you want to increase the buffs applied to your weapons and armor using the shards you collect in Last Epoch, then make sure to take a look at our full guide of the game’sCrafting System, which does seem a bit confusing for newcomers with all the modifiers.
