The A24 Death Stranding Movie Shows How Far Games Have Come
Just a few years ago, it’d have been unthinkable that A24 would be adapting a game to movie.
Anime and Death Stranding fans quickly pointed out that thesilhouette matched up with the Japanese actor Kenjiro Tsuda.
Known for his voice acting in many popular animes, like JoJo’s Bizzare Adventure,Chainsaw Man, andMy Hero Academia,Tsuda also voiced Sam Porter’s Japanese dub in the firstDeath Stranding.
It’s unclear whether Tsuda will be Sam’s Japanese dub again or have abigger role to play in the game’s narrative as a new character.
Kojima’s announcementis reminiscent of the previous one where the silhouette turned out to be Elle Fanning;Fanning’s role is reportedly so crucial to the sequel’s narrative that if she had rejected the role, he would have had torewrite the story.

What We Know About Death Stranding 2 Do Far
With Kojima, knowing and understanding are worlds apart.At the moment, the fanbase can agree only on two things, more or less, the title and the unspecified release date.
The game’s first trailer was released back in 2022 with narrative and gameplay details scarce andspeculation aplenty.
In it,Norman Reedus is back as Sam Porter, the only famous mailman in gaming,alongside the now grown-up weird pod-baby and Fragile from the first game.The sequel will see Sam in a brand-new location with freezingsnowcapped mountains to expansivedeserts to traverse and deliver packages.
The rest of the trailer is filled with weird cults, creepy processions, massive structures, souls-like bosses, unsettling enemy designs, and, of course, tentacles. We’ll leave the tying of all these dots together to someone much smarter than us.
If you’re still waiting on a surprise Mads Mikkelsen appearance during Gamescom or a subsequent trailer, you’re out of luck.Unfortunately for Mikkelson’s fans, Kojima has officially stated thathe will not be coming toDeath Stranding 2.
“It is because we care about the character of Cliff that he will not appear in DS2.”
It’s unclear whether Kojima is planning on gracing the Gamescom stage with an announcement of any sort. Still,posting a teaser days before one of the biggest gaming events of the year raises some hopeful eyebrows.
