Back in the 15th Century, life was much simpler and not everyone had a specialist subject that they could chat for hours about.

However, even then, there were a few self-proclaimed experts knocking around, and more often than not, they would consider themselves sommeliers to the stars.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2: Complete Guide & Walkthrough

If you want to become a household name in 15th century Bohemia, then this guide will be essential to your rise to fame and fortune.

Henry is far from a wine expert, but in the quest In Vino Veritas, you’ll need to pretend that you are.

Casper Rudolf in Kuttenburg KCD2

This quest sees Henry try and get a Kuttenburg resident’s wine business off the ground, but as you might expect, it’s not quite as simple as flogging a few bottles.

You’ll need to pose as a European wine sommelier, and eventually break into the nearby vineyard, which is easier said than done. However, with this guide, we will make it as smooth as a nice vintage red.

How To Start In Vino Veritas

To begin this quest, you’ll need to head toKuttenburg. If you’re not aware by this point, it’s the biggest settlement on the map and the beating heart of the region.

Once here, you’ll want to head to the area near the fountain, where you will find Casper Rudolf trying to pedal his wine.

He’ll offer you to try his wine, but you’ll soon realize why, as his product is pretty terrible, and he knows it. He’s trying to compete with the local vineyard, but the monks are running him out of business, and he hears it’s because they have a secret ingredient.

He wants you to find out what that might be, and he believes he has info on a contact in Kuttenburg who may know what that ingredient is.

He’ll ask you to pose as a wine expert and meet with this innkeeper, and if it all goes well, you might be able to save his failing business. However, Henry’s no sommelier, so you’ll need to study before the meeting.

Getting The Book

While you don’t strictly have to do this, getting the hold of a book that one of Casper’s former lovers borrowed can make it a little easier to get through the exchange with the wine expert.

You’ll need to head to the gardens in Kuttenburg, but when you get there, you will be blocked off by Adleta’s sister, Hugo, standing guard. He won’t let you in, but in this instance, you’re able to use your experience as a blacksmith to your advantage.

This man is a fellow blacksmith’s apprentice, and by passing a skill check, you may convince them that a famous blacksmith just rolled into town. At this point, he will scamper off, and you can speak to Adleta in the gardens.

When you speak to Adleta, she will initially be reluctant to give the book to you, as she thought it was a gift. However, if you tell her the full plan of how you intend to trick the local wine expert by passing a skill check, she will give you the book and wish you luck.

The book doesn’t magically give you knowledge of wine, and you will need to read it to get the info you need. But it’s relatively short, so give it a scan before you head to your meeting.

Meeting The Wine Expert

After you’re done reading, you’ll need to go to your meeting, but we need to stress that you can’t go there looking like a scruffy Knight covered in blood.

The wine expert will only speak to those who are well-dressed and look the part. So, I would urge players to find some more regal-looking attire.

The clothes you wore to the Semine wedding, or something relatively similar, will suffice. Otherwise, you can visit the local tailor in Kuttenburg.

Once appropriately dressed, you’ll findInnkeeper Havelin the Emporer Charles tavern, and you can sit down with them for a tasting session. Which essentially plays out like a little quiz littered with skill checks.

There are a number of ways to succeed in this exchange, such as passing every skill check and lying through your teeth. Or you can simply get enough things right through your knowledge of a wine from a certain region.

Even if you do have decent stats at this point, the skill checks are tough, so you should just try to answer enough questions right and get lucky on a few skill checks.

You will have the choice of three European regions at the beginning of the conversation, but if you want to get through with ease, select France, and then select the following options when they appear:

These dialogue choices, along with at least one successful skill check, will see you through to the end of the tasting. At this point, they will reveal what they know about the wine-making process at the Vineyard. Which you can then go and report back to Casper.

If you fail in this exchange, you can either repeat the process via save scumming. Or, you can head upstairs in the Inn where you will find a dark chest containing the Inn’s Ledger, which will give you the info you need.

Breaking Into The Vineyard

After returning and telling Casper what you know about how the Vineyard is using Sulphur to treat the wine, he’ll then ask you to head to the Vineyard to try and steal some Sulphur for him.

Casper will give you a small reward for completing the quest to this point, but you can pass a skill check to request more coin from him for breaking into the Vineyard.

This leaves you with two choices. You can either try to break into the Vineyard and steal what you need, or you can go up there during the day and try to get yourself employed by the Vineyard.

The latter is the much easier option of the two, as you don’t actually need to work at all, and this will grant you access to the Vineyard without anyone suspecting you a thief.

Play along for a little while and speak to the man who runs the establishment, Administrator Jerome, and then turn your attention to the building to his right.

This building is where you’ll find the items you need. Enter the front door and head to your left. Here, you’ll find a medium-locked door. If you don’t havethe ability to unlock medium locks, you’ll need to pickpocket a key for this room, but by this point in the game, you should be able to jimmy the lock yourself.

Open this door when no one is around, and then head inside. In this room, in the back right corner, you’ll find a chest containing the Sulphur Wicks you’re after. Then get out of there quickly before someone catches you trespassing.

You can head back to Kuttenburg immediately after this, but you should head around the back of this building first, as this is where the saplings are growing.

Casper will pay well if you can get six of these for him, and they are all planted closely together. Carve out a moment where there is no one watching and pluck them from the ground fast.

You then have the choice to progress the quest ‘Under a Straw Hat’. As this quest will conclude when you return to Casper, but if you have no interest in this, you can leave and head back to Kuttenburg to get your reward.

In Vino Veritas Rewards

This quest is a relatively lucrative one as far as KCD2 quests go.

The playerwill gain 425 Gloschenand positive reputation for turning in the Sulphur Wicks. Then, if you also get the Saplings for Casper, he will give you a further 425 Gloschen.

This will then conclude In Vino Veritas.
