So if TGA can nominate a DLC for GOTY then they’ll do it for Remasters too. And guess what Sony just announced one. There was an announcement forThe Last of Us II Remastered‘s PC release at TGA 2024 so we already know what’s going to be Sony’s GOTY contender next year. The remaster of the 2020 title comes out June 17, 2025.

Sony’s dominance at The Game Awards is undeniable. Titles likeThe Last of Us Part II(2020) andGod of War(2018) swept categories and got GOTY, WhileAstro Botisn’t the large-scale blockbuster that the other two are, it still seems like the jury system still leans toward Sony’s titles.The Last of Us Part II Remasteredcould be another addition to the list next year.

Set to release on PC on June 20, 2025,The Last of Us Part II Remasteredwilladd to the list of PC portsfor PS exclusives. Originally launched in 2020, the game was a divisive sequel to the 2013 classic. While it continued the trend of excellent writing from the first game, some of the story decisions were polarizing to fans.
Developed in collaboration with Nixxes Software and Iron Galaxy Studios, the PC version promises to meet the high performance and quality expectations of PC players. Its release might be timed alongside the HBO adaptation’s second season which is also coming out in Spring 2025.

The dominance of Sony titles at The Game Awards often overshadows the efforts of smaller studios and international developers. TakeBlack Myth: Wukongfor example. The game rooted in Chinese mythology, offers fresh narratives and mechanics but struggled to gain recognition in a system where fan votes account for only 10% of the decision. The saddest part is that it’snot the only game to get snubbed.

WithThe Last of Us Part II Remasteredarriving on PC, its potential nomination seems almost inevitable. The story, improper graphics and mechanics, and its status as a PlayStation exclusive make it an all-but-guaranteed contender.
