However, to enjoy the upcoming installments, we need to have a clear answer to his actions first. What Happened To Mechamaru Aka Kokichi Muta?

Kokichi is a user of the Puppet Manipulation Technique; as a result, he uses the puppet named Mechamaru to live his life as a Sorcerer while his real body remains hidden inside a room. That’s why he is popular by the name of his puppet, while his real name is not usually mentioned in the series. Kokichi controls Mechamaru and his other dolls while remaining in a room, and although they look quite happy and cheerful, the real body is severely in pain, with bandages wrapped all over his body, his right arm missing, and both his legs useless. But what actually happened to him?

The dreadful condition Mechamaru currently lives in is due to the effect of the binding of Heavenly Restriction imposed on him. For those who are unaware, Heavenly Restriction constitutes a particular form of Cursed constraint, impacting an individual’s Cursed Energy in exchange for either imposing restriction or introducing enhancements to their physical form. It means the effect that Heavenly Restriction will have on an individual is uncertain; it can either prove as a remarkable gift or the biggest curse in someone’s life. And in the case of Kokichi Muta, it’s the latter one. The other known characters to use Heavenly Restriction are Maki and Toji Fushiguru, and in their case, they lack the Cursed Energy levels; however, their physical abilities have been remarkably enhanced.

Why Did Kokichi Muta Betray The Sorcerers?

Okay, we agree that Kokichi is highly in pain, but how does betraying the Sorcerers benefit him? The obvious answer given in the episode is Mahito’s Idle Transfiguration Technique, the only way he can ever be healed. Kukichi wanted to have a normal body and normal life, and he accepted that he could give up all his Cursed Energy for that. However, Geto and Mahito were least interested in his Cursed Energy as they had bigger plans. In exchange for healing Kokichi’s body, Mahito and Geto asked him to leak some crucial details regarding the Sorcerers and Jujutsu High, to which he agreed.

Although Kokichi betrayed his friends, he never intended to hurt them in any way. As a part of the deal, he took a promise from Mahito and Kenjaku to never hurt his Sorcerer friends. However, he knew this wasn’t going to work, and they would definitely break their promise. That’s why, as soon as his body was healed, he engaged in a life-and-death battle with them, and despite his impressive powers, he ultimately met his demise in the face of such a formidable opponent.
