Judas, the upcoming first-person shooter fromBioShockcreator Ken Levine, is being described as “BioShock in space,” but the internet is here to remind everyone that we already have BioShock in space; it’s called System Shock.
Earlier this year, a small group of media outlets, includingIGNand The Game Awards hostGeoff Keighley, were given the opportunity to go hands-on with Ghost Story Games' upcoming narrative-driven first-person shooter. While Judas is still deep in development, the lucky few who were given a sneak peek are now discussing what they thought of their 4-5 hours with the game.

Ghost Story Games' Debut Title Judas Announced
Ken Levine unveils his newest project.
If it wasn’t alreadymade clear by its debut trailer, Judas is everything fans know and love about the BioShock series. “All the things you would expect in a BioShock game are there,” Keighley said. “There’s hand powers, hacking, incredible cinematic moments, great characters, rich storyline.”
IGN’s Ryan McCaffrey had similar thoughts, saying that Judas “will feel familiar to BioShock fans.” But it was the constant description of “BioShock in space” by previewers that have really gotten fans up in arms. Specifically System Shock fans.

Sorry Ken, We Already Have BioShock In Space
After multiple outlets summed up Judas as “BioShock in space,” the gaming community took to X (formerly Twitter) to remind everybody that there are already multiple games that could be described in the same regard. Specifically, System Shock and Prey.
“The last game allowed to steal the moniker ‘Bioshock in Space’ was Prey and nothing else is allowed to now. It far surpassed it even, I don’t really wanna hear about the guy who couldn’t even top System Shock 2 describing another ‘Bioshock in Space’,“X user FPSthetics said.

Others opted to point out the existence of System Shock and Prey in a more sarcastic manner. “‘Bioshock in space’ there must be a word for this kind of system,“X user Mako Fuakasmesaid. While Harokid said, “Wow, Bioshock in SPACE huh. What a Shock 2 the System.”
It’s worth noting that at no point has creator Ken Levine himself labelled Judas as “BioShock in space.” So while you may feel irritated that Judas is being described in such a way, you shouldn’t aim it toward Levine.
