James Gunn, set to kickstart his reign as the co-CEO of DC Studios with 2025’sSuperman,might have a range of surprises up his sleeves for fans. Recent developments state that none other than the MCU star, Chris Pratt, has had discussions with the new DCU boss for a potential role in the franchise.

The actor, known for his work as Starlord in the MCU, has been a part of 6 MCU movies thus far, and has become a fan favorite. He has also been linked constantly to the role of Guy Gardner/Green Lantern, although his commitment to Marvel might prove to be an obstacle.
Chris Pratt has had discussions with James Gunn over a DC role
Chris Pratt is well-known for his portrayal of Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, in the MCU. His character, the hilarious, charismatic, and oft-clueless leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, has been a central figure in multiple Marvel films, which has made his him an obvious fan-favorite.
And while not much is known about what kind of role he might portray, Nathan Fillion has already been confirmed as Green Lanter/Guy Gardner inSuperman. This means that Pratt will most probably be given a different role, despite fans looking at him as the ideal Gardner. (viaMyTimeToShineHello)

If Pratt does join the DC Universe as Guy Gardner, he would be stepping into the shoes of one of the most unique and complex Green Lanterns. Guy Gardner, created by John Broome and Gil Kane, first appeared in Green Lantern (vol. 2) #59 in 1968. Unlike his more stoic counterparts, Gardner is known for his brash personality and unwavering willpower. He’s a character who refuses to back down from a fight and often clashes with fellow superheroes due to his headstrong nature.
Thus, on paper at least, Pratt is the ideal Guy Gardner, even if Gunn might have a different role in mind for theParks and Recreationsuperstar. Of course, things will also depend on his commitment to the MCU, with his future in the franchise also seemingly delicate, for the time being.

Chris Pratt does not know if he will return as Star-Lord
Of course, Pratt has an obvious history with Gunn, as the director helmed all three of theGuardians of the Galaxymovies thus far. Marvel has not revealed plans for a fourth movie, which is certain to not have Gunn as the director due to his new job.
What’s more, Pratt himself had expressed uncertainty over his MCU future in an interview (viaYahoo)

Well, there’s always a chance. But of course, I wouldn’t be able to spoil it here on the sidewalk with you. I could, but I better not. Man, I just have to leave that to the fans and people like James to decide. I’m not exactly sure. I’m truly not sure.
Hence, not only is his MCU future uncertain, Marvel might have already decided to conclude theGuardiansseries as a trilogy. The threequel not only concluded most of the character arcs, but the changes since have further reduced the possibility.

In such a scenario, joining the DCU might not be the worst decision for Chris Pratt. That is of course, if Gunn is able to find another role which might be better-suited, and more importantly, be vacant.
AllGuardians of the Galaxymovies are available to stream on Disney+.
