The film has now hit VOD after ten weeks at the theaters and has hit unprecedented numbers in recent years. It opened on the #1 spot on both AppleTV+ and Fandango. The number is 53% higher than the six-day VOD viewership ofOppenheimerand 64% higher thanBarbie, both films being last year’s summer blockbusters. Interestingly,Deadpool & Wolverineis number 2 on the summer blockbuster list. Reynolds’ film is expected to drop out of its top position in the home viewership as Tim Burton’s hit sequelBeetlejuice Beetlejuicehits VOD today (Tuesday). While it was nota billion-dollar hit like the Marvel film, the film comes after 32 days with a $402.8 million box office gross.
However, it should be noted that the data from Samba TV has a major issue as it does not take into account non-TV devices. It also does not take into account the actual number of people watching.
