Assassin’s Creed Shadowshas had a rough start after its recent announcement a few days ago, and now it seems that Ubisoft has made another error on behalf of the title. It may only be a small feature, but according to a recent report, social stealth won’t actually be included in the upcoming title.

In the past, it was noted that characters would have some form of social stealth as they progressed throughout the world, but this has now been retracted and altered to better suit the characters that take place within the game itself.
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Loses a Feature That Assassin’s Creed Mirage Brought Back With Style
One of the best features that came from theAssassin’s Creedfranchise is the fact that players could utilise stealth in dozens of different ways to complete their tasks, whether it be to assassinate an evil doer, infiltrate a massive base, or even just stalk their prey.
Got an update from Ubisoft about social stealth in AC Shadows, after their producer mis-spoke when contrasting Yasuke’s and Naoe’s abilities to be stealthy– No classic social stealth, even for Naoe– But she is unnoticed in crowds by default; he’s nothttps://t.co/LKc4jeKDY2pic.twitter.com/fxmLR3KKwL

To make stealth even easier, Ubisoft brought a mechanic into the franchise early on, which allowed players to stealth in a social situation. This meant that players would be able to blend into a crowd, sit on a bench, and even follow groups of people into heavily fortified locations.

What made this social stealth so important is that it allowed players to use the simplest of tactics to gain access to situations that would normally take a while to access. Unfortunately, it seems this mechanic will be removed from the next installment of the franchise, but not as much as players think.
For example, it has been made clear that Naoe will be unnoticeable in most situations, unless they use a weapon, commit a crime, or crouch around locations.Yasuke, on the other hand, won’t be able to stealthas easily as Naoe, as they are very noticeable in all their armor and weapons.

Players Feel Betrayed by the Lack of Social Stealth After Its Glorious Return in Assassin’s Creed Mirage
AfterAssassin’s Creed Miragewas released, players were over the moon regarding its return to the stealthy title that it began with all those years ago. Now Ubisoft is taking a step back in what can only be seen as the wrong direction now that it is removing social stealth once again.
This Neat Detail in Assassin’s Creed Shadows Shows Ubisoft Cares About the Immersion Above All Else, and Some Fans Won’t Like It
One player summarised this situation quite perfectly as they explained that for them, this is a “Huge step back after Mirage to get rid of this.” and many players have agreed with this comment.

There are even players who are claiming that this decision by Ubisoft is making a bad decision even worse, while there are some players who are even going in the other direction by saying that this title has streamlined the mechanic by making it automatic rather than manual.
so the feature is more streamlined, its just automatic in a sense, instead of being something you have to proactively do.

It has been a rough few days for Ubisoft, and this decision to remove social stealth could be considered a major step in the wrong direction, but if the development team can make Naoe’s stealth mechanics into a beautiful set of skills, then players might be able to overlook the lack of social stealth.
