The creators also revealed the inspiration behind Heron’s character was the popular Greek Demigod Hercules. However, when creating Seraphim’s character, the creators had to be cautious, as fully embracingOedipus Rex‘s dark narrative risked making the character unlikable to viewers.

To avoid the grim elements of Seraphim’s backstory, the creators chose to focus on the rivalry between the two brothers. They avoided the darkest version of Seraphim’s story, where he sleeps with his mother and, in a twisted turn of events, kills her instead of his father.

Season 2 Episode 8 consists of several unexpectedmoments, mostly highlighting Seraphim, leaving a lasting impression on the audience. Interestingly, he also talks about the theory of showing the two half-brothers as allies, but instead believes in portraying Seraphim as Heron’s nemesis. Seraphim is the half-brother of Heron and the son of King Periander. Since Queen Electra had an affair with Zeus, she ended up pregnant with twins; Seraphim is Periander’s, while Heron happened to be Zeus. King Periander’s brother tried to kill Seraphim after he found out about the infidelity, but failed.
