The prequel show exceeded all expectations with its perfect cast and ran for seven great seasons before its conclusion on July 01, 2025. Armitage and creator Chuck Lorre were ready to return for an eighth season if they were given an opportunity. In an earlier interview, Armitage shared that while the seven-season idea of the series seemed a lot, it would’ve been incredible if they got to do an eighth season.

Armitage shared that he would love to do more ofYoung Sheldon. But he added that he was also cool with the show ending after seven seasons as well. He shared that he could never get tired of working with his great castmates and shared that if the show ever got to eight seasons, it would be incredible. Armitage shared withET:

I would love [to do] more. I would be cool with whatever. I mean, we’ll see. I don’t think I could tire of these people. We have some pretty wonderful castmates but hey, [seven] seasons is a lot but if we get to eight that would be incredible.
Not just the actor, but creatorChuck Lorrewas also interested in doing more. While he shared that the renewal of the show for more seasons was above his pay grade, he was up to the task if the“audience is still enjoying the show.”However, the age of the actors may have played a crucial factor in winding up the series, as it would’ve ruined the canon ofThe Big Bang Theory.
