In a conversation withEntertainment Weekly, Chuck Lorre shared that he was heartbroken by Charlie Sheen’s downfall. The presently 71-year-old TV veteran stated in 2011 that he decided to leave the show before the makers eventually fired Sheen.

While theRed Dawnactor attacked the showrunner with distasteful comments and even filed a lawsuit against him, Chuck Lorre admitted that he had a pleasant bond with Charlie Sheen. Lorre added that he was hopeful that the actor may“emerge from this fiasco and be stronger”, but sadly the latter’s downfall continued and he was replaced with Ashton Kutcher after Season 8.
