In a conversation withEntertainment Weekly, Chuck Lorre shared that he was heartbroken by Charlie Sheen’s downfall. The presently 71-year-old TV veteran stated in 2011 that he decided to leave the show before the makers eventually fired Sheen.
I offered to quit the show last winter. I said, ‘Listen, if for some reason I’m now the Antichrist I’m happy to leave. It’s not in my interest to stop the show, and I certainly don’t want to put all these people out of work. Keep going. Get another guy. Don’t stop on my account.
While theRed Dawnactor attacked the showrunner with distasteful comments and even filed a lawsuit against him, Chuck Lorre admitted that he had a pleasant bond with Charlie Sheen. Lorre added that he was hopeful that the actor may“emerge from this fiasco and be stronger”, but sadly the latter’s downfall continued and he was replaced with Ashton Kutcher after Season 8.

On the other hand, Charlie Sheen, who came out as HIV positive in 2015, also reflected on his past mistakes. He regretted the situation and was not shy to admit that the effects of the drugs did not let his brain think much about anything.
