After taking over from Relic Entertainment, Saber Interactive wants to keep the spirit of the original game while adding modern touches with features used today. The team intended to make the sequel more violent and raw, with a type of cold cruelty that fits well withWarhammer 40,000’stone, according to creative director Oliver Hollis-Leick.

In an interview withGameSpot, Hollis-Leick gave some insights into the reasons behind the creative approach Saber is taking forSpace Marine 2
The first one with the Cockney Orks had more of a subtle cartoonish element to it, a comic book feel perhaps. This version feels more real, harsher, bolder. I would call it a maturation of the original game.
Since the universe ofWarhammer 40Kis a dark and dangerous one, Saber has made the choice to abandon the original game’s comic tone in favor of a harsher, more realistic one. This decision could potentially serve as something that helps player immersion. Although there was a slight cartoonish aspect in the original game, Hollis-Leick said the sequel will be harsher, more genuine, and bolder.
With this approach in mind, one of the changes they made inSpace Marine 2is the violence and presentation. The first game had a subtle cartoonish feel, especially with its Cockney Orks.

However, it was clarified that all the in-game content will be accessible with no paywalls. To ensure that there are no gameplay advantages linked to financial purchases, the paid DLC will include cosmetic items that only serve to allow players to customize themselves.
