Agatha All Alongis going to be Marvel Television’s only release this year, as Marvel’s parent company, Disney, scales back to focus more on quality rather than quantity. However, this one release has found itself in the middle of a small controversy, as the MCU newcomer Joe Locke talked about what he thinks about the MCU in general.

Joe Locke, who is making his MCU debut inAgatha All Along, has simply been credited with playing a ‘Teen’, that a lot of people have speculated to be one of Wanda Maximoff’s children, Billy Kaplan. When the young actor was asked about misconceptions that people could have about Marvel, his answer might have been a little too odd for some fans to digest.
Joe Locke believes Marvel is not just for straight, white men
Joe Locke revealed that he thought there was a misconception that Marvel was just for straight, white men. However, there was never any indication that that was the case anyway. Fans have caught on to this, wondering where the ‘misconception’ came from anyway, taking to the internet to talk about why Locke would want to highlight such a non-issue.
Seriously, just make a good show. No one cares.pic.twitter.com/OGK7p6HKt4

i’ve never heard anyone say it’s only for “straight white men” bruh
Where is this coming from man 😭 no one says this

Wow what a thoughtful nuanced and original response
so you mean it is for the “modern audience”? well then, the 200 people can watch that if they want.

Audiences are thoroughly confused as to how anyone can come to the conclusion that Marvel is just for ‘straight, white men’. What this has started in turn, is a discourse about how “woke” content has become synonymous with bad writing, such that anytime comments like those ofJoe Lockeare made, they usually signal that the show or product that they are promoting is going to subpar.
Agatha All Alongis set to be part of a trilogy of shows
Agatha All Alongis the second installment in a trilogy of shows, the first of which wasWandaVision. Kicking off the MCU’s Disney+ era,WandaVisionreceived great reviews from fans and critics alike, but a section of the fandom believes that it all went downhill from there, as Marvel began focusing on dropping mediocre shows to make a quick buck.

Agatha All Alongis the only release of the newly minted Marvel Television, which will be a distinct brand from Marvel Studios (focusing on films) and Marvel Animation (focusing on animated web series). However, with Joe Locke’s comments, fans are skeptical if the series would be worth a watch after all. While fans ofElizabeth Olsenmight give the show a chance (as it is rumored that the show is set to feature her in some capacity), it remains to be seen if the trilogy of shows gets a chance to be completed after all.
Agatha All Alonglands on Disney+ on June 11, 2025.
