Christopher Nolan movies have always something philosophical and spiritual to offer besides their scientific marvel, according to a fan. When Nolan came out withInterstellar, it was a movie that blew your mind with its attention to detail. However, the fan noticed one mistake that irked him, especially after knowing this one trait of theInceptiondirector.

Nolan never reuses footage in his film, but when the fan saw one clip from Interstellar being used at two different places, he got suspicious. The fan rewatched the entire film and came up with an insane theory, much like the grimTop Gun: Mavericktheory, that explains the minor mistake.
Christopher Nolan’sInterstellarMistake May Not Be A Mistake After All
In a short video posted to TikTok via the channel @StarkVerse, a fan explains a mind-blowing theory aboutChristopher Nolan‘sInterstellar. If you are aware of Nolan’s brilliant tale ofMatthew McConaughey‘s Cooper and his Lazarus mission, then this theory will change your perspective. During the opening scene of the film, Cooper has a dream about crashing while flying a spaceship.

The fan noticed that the same footage from this opening sequence was later used in the movie during Cooper’s expedition to Miller’s planet in the Endurance spaceship. On second thoughts, the fan explored more into this little mistakebecause it was a Nolan movie. He believed that Nolan wouldn’t have reused the same footage without a purpose.
The fan speculated that Cooper could have died in the accident right at the beginning of the film. He admitted that he usually dismissed such ‘Cooper is dead’ theories but decided to rewatch the film with this proposed theory in mind. The fan managed to find a couple of clues that suggested that the movie could be about Cooper’s transition to the afterlife. He explained in hisTikTok:

[Cooper] can’t stay on Earth and has to leave. The Lazarus mission hints at Cooper’s death and his journey to the unknown. On the Endurance, the crew always refers to the big sleep, which is a clear metaphor of death. Then, the dialogue, the words his kids speak, they sound so much like private thoughts that a person would have about their parent who suffered an untimely accidental death.
There are also hints throughout the dialogues between Cooper and his co-workers in the expedition. TARS tells him when he is in front of Gargantua,“See you on the other side, Coop”, and Dr. Mann tells him,“Right before you die, you see your children.”His meeting with Murph on her deathbedalso raises suspicion since no one seems to notice him in the room.

The new theory puts a completely different spin on Nolan’s story which even left the TikToker perplexed. He shared,“I just cannot unsee this.”This theory is too similar to one shared by Tom Cruise’sTop Gunmovie fans.
TheInterstellarTheory Is Too Similar ToTop Gun: MaverickTheory
The darkTop Gun: Mavericktheory suggested thatTom Cruise‘s Pete Maverick died at the beginning of the film and therest of the film was a dream. During the initial scenes of the film, Maverick tries to save his hypersonic Darkstar program and manages to reach the final target speed. However, when he pushes beyond Mach 10 speed, his prototype is destroyed.

In the film, Cruise’s character ejects in time and lands without any broken bones or major injuries. Fans believe that the odds of surviving an ejection from such a high-speed jet are incredibly low, let alone landing unscathed. The theory suggested that the rest of the film was a dream of a dying man, whereVal Kilmer‘s Iceman appears to advise him to move on and Miles Teller’s Rooster appears as a manifestation of his guilt for Goose’s death.
However, the director of the filmJoseph Kosinskidismissed the theory, stating that they had planned the entire sequence of Maverick’s freefall back to Earth (viaHappy Sad Confused).

Interstellaris now available for streaming on Prime Video, whileTop Gun: Maverickis available on Paramount+.
