Paramount’sYellowstone, created by Taylor Sheridan, is a masterclass in the Western genre. From showing the ways of ranch life to the world of cowboys and everything in between, Yellowstone has managed to become one of the best television shows currently. But even in all its glory, there are a few things that have managed to make the fans shake their heads in disagreement.

While the Dutton family and its complicated dynamics do leave little to be desired, the ranchers and the cowboys in the Yellowstone ranch also play a massive part in the storyline. But with time, fans have come to realize a few aspects regarding the ranch life, which does not sit too well with many.
The Yellowstone Ranch Is Possibly The Worst Place to Work At
Many may ask this question after watching the show, but why do the people working in theYellowstoneranch work there? It’s not the pay or the working conditions that attract people, or rather anything remotely positive about the ranch. Then why do people continue to stay in and work at the ranch their whole life?
In a reddit thread, a user posted a question, asking the same.“Why do people work for the Dutton ranch?”was the query posted by usercarlataggarty, and the answers have been quite the eye-openers. The user opened the thread with an initial discussion.

“I’d been a fan of Kevin’s work my whole life”: Long Before Feud With Kevin Costner and Yellowstone, Taylor Sheridan Desperately Wanted to Work With the 2 Times Oscar Winner
This gives a pretty in-depth look into the working on the Yellowstone ranch. The people working there have been a part of it their whole lives. And very few have any standing as a rancher that’s beyond getting the bare minimum. But it’s the way of lifeTaylor Sheridanhas created for them, and that’s how they live.
Fans React to Life in The Dutton Ranch
Many users have come forward to give their two cents on the matter. It’s safe to say that other than Rip Wheeler, no other rancher really has a say in how life goes at the Dutton ranch. And that’s only because he is married to the daughter of the ranch’s owner. Being Beth’s husband does have its perks. But other than Rip, played byCole Hauser, no one really has much of anything going for them as being part of the Yellowstone ranch.

It’s safe to say it’s not the benefits or the pay that’s keeping them there. More life, most of them have no other place to go, and nothing to do. At least they have the basic necessities of life: food and shelter, and of course, a little money in hand won’t hurt. So even though that’s not the life someone would dream to have for themselves, if this is the last resort, as is the case for most of these ranchers, then this is just the way it is.
