Selena Gomez Hints Retirement From Singing
The first memory that fans ofSelena Gomezpossess traces back to the good old Disney days when we grew up watching herWizards of Waverly Place.From growing up as a Disney kid to entering the music industry, her growth as a star has felt personal as she has been an integral part of our lives.
However, when she appeared as a guest ontheSmartLess podcast,Gomez talked about her future, she stated that she wanted to narrow down her career options, where she looks forward to focusing majorly on her acting, and her upcoming album would mark her retirement from singing.

“I do feel like I have one more album in me but I would probably choose acting.”
Selen Gomez continued that she had a ton of fun as a musician, but the older she got, the more she felt like settling down as an actress, as singing was just a mere hobby.

“I started having a lot of fun with music and then touring was really fun. But I was doing my TV show at the same time [Wizards of Waverly Place] and I just found it really fun so I just kept going but the older I get, the more I’m kind of like — I would like to find something to just settle on. I wanted to be an actress, I never really intended on being a singer full-time but apparently that hobby turned into something else.”
While theSouveniractress has talked about her retirement, she has stated in a different interview that she regrets growing up as a Disney kid.

Selena Gomez Regrets Growing Up As a Disney Kid
In an exclusive interview withVanity Fair, theWe Don’t Talk Anymoresinger recalled how signing for Disney was a horrible decision. She stated how there were a plethora of restrictions, including not saying phrases like“What the hell?”Though she wasn’t a“wild child,”refraining from using such phrases was too much.
“I wasn’t a wild child by any means, but I was on Disney, so I had to make sure not to say ‘What the hell?’ in front of anyone.”
Gomez explained that meeting Disney’s standards put a lot of pressure on her as they wanted her to be the“best role model”for children.
“Now I think being the best role model is being honest, even with the ugly and complicated parts of yourself.”
TheBehaving Badlyactress added that she signed her life away to Disney, as she was unsure of what she was doing with her life.
“I signed my life away to Disney at a very young age and I didn’t know what I was doing. What I’d say is the level of sophistication of the material is the first reason why I wanted to do this.”
Even though Selena Gomez regrets her past, she clarified that she was“beyond proud”of her work with Disney.
