When one thinks of WWE, their mind may bring up the image of all the iconic superstars that lined up the roster of RAW and SmackDown. And among the many icons of the sport, John Cena and Dwayne Johnson, a.k.a, The Rock might just be what many have in mind. The two stars were one of the most iconic and culturally influential people in the sport, and their reputation precedes them even today.

With Johnson being brought into the board of directors of WWE’s parent company TKO, it seems like the landscape of the sport is all set to change yet again. Along with this, the company has also signed a deal with OTT platform Netflix to stream Monday Night RAW starting in 2025. Hearing all this, Cena is beyond elated, even so far that he might just return to the ring.
John Cena Is Excited For WWE’s Future After Dwayne Johnson Joins The Board Of Directors
It doesn’t need to be told or put into words about just how influential the WWE has been for everyone growing up in the ’90s and early 2000s as the fans are more than vocal about it already. But that global popularity is about to skyrocket further with WWE signing a deal with the entertainment giant Netflix that will enable the users of the service to stream Monday Night RAW from 2025 on the platform.
Along with this startling yet equally wonderful news, it was also recently revealed thatDwayne Johnson, more popular for his in-ring persona of The Rock, has joined WWE’s parent company, TKO Group Holdings Inc. as a member of The Board of Directors. Thus, he will be working with the professional wrestling brand as one of the key decision-makers going forward.

All of this has gotJohn Cenabeyond excited about the sport’s future as well as theBaywatchstar’s, especially after he made a return to the ring this year as well. In a recent interview withVariety, he said:
“That’s great forWWE, that’s obviously great forTKO. It came in tandem with an announcement thatDwayne Johnsonis now on the board ofTKOand he’s going to be more involved withWWE— that warms my heart. I think it’s great forNetflixbecauseWWEwill get global exposure and it will helpNetflixin all of its markets.WWE’sbeen around the world forever, soNetfliximmediately gets a global property that they don’t have to airU.S.-only or Canada-only, they can put it everywhere. I couldn’t be happier.”

As for whether he would return to the ring in the future, he gave a vague response, saying that he’ll be retiring from the action soon and that there is a lot of young blood waiting to prove themselves in the ring.
What’s Next For Johnson And Cena
While their recent developments may have been made in the WWE, their professional careers as actors have not come to a stop.
Johnson may be taking a step back from creating commercial blockbusters in the industry for a little while as he gears up for his upcoming role in a biopic titledThe Smashing Machine, which will be directed by Benny Safdie. As for Cena, he was recently seen at the global premiere of his upcoming filmArgylle, which also stars Henry Cavill and Dua Lipa and is directed by Matthew Vaughn.
