Xbox Game Pass has been Microsoft’s saving grace for the last few years in the console wars and Phil Spencer is adamant about seeing the growth of their subscription-based streaming service for years to come. Spencer believes that the gaming streaming format they pioneered is the future, and it is futile to think otherwise.

Cliff Bleszinski is a former game developer for Xbox’s first-party titleGears of Warand shared his two cents on the company’s future.
The Console Wars Is Over But Microsoft’s Phil Spencer Is Starting Another
Xbox has a lot of ground to cover to remain visible and relevant in the public eye in regards to gaming. Cliff Bleszinski, also more popularly known as Cliffy B, strongly believes that Xbox head Phil Spencer is looking for ways to creatively and feasibly integrate Netflix’s streaming model to assert dominance and a show of strength against their rivals.
In a recentinterview with Cliff Bleszinski, the game developer now working as a consultant for guests that will appear in the YouTube seriesWolves Den, a reality show thatShark Tankheavily inspires. Xbox Game Pass has had a few hits and misses recently, especially having to sharea popular sports titleMLB The Show 24with the Nintendo Switch, and the fact a Sony studio developed the game is an insult to injury.

I believe Phil Spencer is gunning for the Netflix model. Sure, Netflix has some exclusives, but they realized the way to win the streaming wars is to be on EVERY platform.
When asked about Phil Spencer’s vision for the future of Xbox Game Pass, Bleszinski truly believes that the Netflix structure is the only way to win the “streaming wars”. Spencer is a very hands-on and dedicated businessman as evidenced by Microsoft’s aggressive acquisition spree of major video game developers and publishers.

Phil Spencer is quite unpredictable, the acquisition spree was meant to keep more popular third-party games locked to their platform exclusively which will affect users of rival competitors like PlayStation and Nintendo, however, it seems the business head took a few steps back bysharing first-party titleslikeSea of ThievesandHi-Fi Rushand potentiallyStarfieldsoon.
Cliff Bleszinski is well aware of the cut-throat nature of the gaming industry which is why he went on and joined as a panelist in Wolves Den to support up-and-coming developers. Bleszinski’s years of experience are credible enough to see what others are also saying about Spencer’s vision for Xbox Game Pass by dipping their toes in every platform.
