Black Myth: Wukongmay feel like a glorified boss rush game at the best of timesas opposed to a Souls-like, as it seems the punishing battles against beasties never seem to end.

However, there are some opportunities to go off the beaten track, do hidden challenges, and get cool rewards for your efforts. One such opportunitypresents itself in the Three Bells quest.

However, finding them can be trickier than you might think, so we aim to help you find them, ring them, and deal with the secret boss at the end of this quest.

Where Are The Three Bells in Black Myth Wukong?

As mentioned, there are three bells that players will need to ring to complete this quest and unlock a secret area known as the Ancient Guanyin Temple.

These are dotted around the Black Mountain area that makes up the game’s first chapter, and the location of each is as follows:

The First Bell

The first bell can be foundclosest to the ‘Outside the Forest’ Shrine. This is the same area where you will have fought (or perhaps ran away from) theWandering Wightif you need a reminder.

If you head to the right of this area it will take youonward toward Gaungmou, but if you explore the left hand side of this open area, you will happen upon General Guangzhi.

This is a tough flame-based physical attacker, but one that can be dealt with early on or revisited later for an easier fight. This boss is one of the rare ones that aren’t required for progression, so we would urge you to do this one last if you are having a tough time.

After defeating them, you will find the first bell just behind the immediate boss area, and players will alsogain access to a cool transformation spell calledRed Tides, a great early addition to your arsenal.

The Second Bell

The second Bell is located closest to the Snake Trail Shrine.Players will need to work through the area with poison lizards and skeletal lizards before eventually coming to the area where you will fightGuangmou.

Guangmouis a tough fight that will force you to study his projectile attacks and avoid his army of snakes and their venom attacks.

However, if you manage to beat them, you’ll gain a Spirit Transformation that allows you to command an army of snakes of your own. Plus, you’re able to ring the belljust up the stairs from where you will have fought this powerful snake charmer.

The Third Bell

Just one more bell to go now. This one is located closest to the White Mist Marsh Shrine, and can only be accessedafter you havedefeated the Whiteclad Noble.

They are a very tough boss with two phases, but if you take the time toupgrade your Gourdand gain access tothe Pillar Stance, you should eventually beat this powerful boss.

After you defeat them, you should avoid heading through the opening up ahead and insteadturn your attention to the hidden path to your left.

This will lead you to an area where there seems to be a Yao Guai hanging from a tree, and nearby you’ll find the third and final bell, and upon ringing this bell, you will be transported to a secret area.

Don’t panic about being transported to a new area, as there is a checkpoint shrine in the Ancient Guanyin Temple, which will allow you to fast travel backif you find Elder Jinchi too difficult.

Preparing For Elder Jinchi

When you arrive at the Ancient Guanyin Temple, you will be able to activate a nearby shrine, and will also be able to access three nearby chests that will give you some helpful items, including a bunch of Will that could be used to upgrade gear before this fight.

Sorry, we’re closed.

Ideally, you’ll want to ensure you have theTwin Serpent Staff for this fight, and you’ll want to ensure you have access to a decent armor set. Then, if you have access to useful Curios liketheAgate Jaror theCat’s Eye Beads,be sure to equip those too.

Plus,it’s very useful to have access to theCloud StepSpell for this fightas well, which will require you to beat the Black Wind King.

How to Defeat Elder Jinchi

To fully complete this quest, you’ll need to take down Elder Jinchi, a boss that will feel quite similar to theWandering Wightin a lot of ways. Only this boss has a lot of little minions to call upon to spice things up.

Generally speaking, the attacks that Jinchi has access to will mirror that of theWandering Wight, with head slam attacks if you attack them head on, and a a series of earth shattering AOE attacks when at distance. Of the two, it’s definitely easier to stay close to this boss and try to keep behind them to avoid getting headbutted.

However, we should mention that he is much more agile than the Wandering Wight and will use a series of sweeping attacks and stomps that will force you to react with precise dodges. These are generally not to hard to dodge, but it does mean that you can’t run away to safety when things get sketchy, as this big headed beast can follow you.

The minions around the temple will come into play throughout this fight as well. They will use these minions in two ways. Throughout the fight they will have them gather on your position and they will explode like little walking time bombs. You can either attack them as they converge on you, or you can dodge roll to safety.

Then when Jinchi gets to 50% health he will rise into the air and have the minions gather toward him. Every time a minion gets near him he will absorb their energy and heal, so the goal during this portion of the battle is to run around the battlefield and stop any of them from getting close to him.

The only other attack you really need to worry about is the charged beam attack. This is telegraphed when he absorbs the energy of all the minions on the field into an orange glow, and then he shoots a beam of energy in your direction. This can be dodged by going left or right, and you’ll need to get good at avoiding his one, as it has one-shot potential.

The key to success here is using charged attacks to knock them off balance when possible, to master the dodges when they use orange beam and pulse attacks, and to use the minions to your advantage, as killing them heals you too.

Rewards For Completing This Quest

After you defeat Jinchi, you will be transported back to the Third Bell’s location, and when you examine the hanging Yao Guai in the tree, you will receive a very useful reward. Here is a full list of the rewards for completing this quest:

TheFireproof Mantleis an incredible item to get before you head to the summit to fight the Black Bear Guai, as this boss has a very tough second half of their fight where they will make use of a lot of flame-based attacks, and the Fireproof Mantle allows you to make yourself temporarily immune to all burn build-up, making it an ideal item to take into the chapter’s grand finale.
