Celestial Nonary Pill In Black Myth Wukong

It’s a boss with many moving parts, but if you follow this guide, we might get you to the other side and complete the first chapter of this epic story.

How To Prepare For Black Bear Guai

As we mentioned in previous guides, you should spend time awakening new sparks and upgrading your gear. At the very least, we would suggest anUpgraded Gourd,Serpentscale Armor, and the Twin Serpent Staff by this point. But here are some specific tips for the fight ahead:

Upgrade Your Stamina

However, aside from upgrades you will likely have made, along the way to the Black Bear Guai boss area, you will have the opportunity to pick up aCelestial Nonary Pill, which will significantly increase your overall stamina.

This is foundin the area with the large enemy and various archers leading up to the summit. So be sure to use your newly acquiredCloud StepSpell to sneak around undetected and grab this item.

Players can also access a Celestial Taiji Pill which increases your overall Mana directly after the area where you fought the Whiteclad Noble, so if you missed this, be sure to fast travel back there and grab it.

Acquire The Fireproof Mantle

While this will take quite a lot of additional legwork, the payoff is that the reward for completing this quest will help you a lot when facing the Black Bear Guai.

The Three Bells questis an optional task where players can find and ring three bells scattered across the game’s opening chapter, and if all three are rung, you will gain access to the Ancient Guanyin Temple, where you will face off against Elder Jinchi.

Upon defeating this tough boss, you will then gain access to the Fireproof Mantle. An item that makes you temporarily immune to all burn build-up.

This is a godsend in the fight ahead, as in the second half of the fight the Black Bear Guai will summon flames from the earth and all their attacks will cause burn build-up. So being able to completely negate the effects makes this potentially tricky segment much less intimidating.

Fireproof Mantle Reward In Black Myth Wukong

How To Defeat Black Bear Guai

This fight is a tough one, as this bear is one tough cookie with a massively inflated HP bar. When you enter the fight, you have enough time to use yourGaungmou Spirit Transformation, so feel free to use that right away.

After this initial exchange, the bear will likely run away and briefly evaporate before appearing before you, leaping into the air, and pouncing on you. Wait for them to become fully visible and then dodge just as they are about to land on the ground.

After this, it’s all about landing as many combos as you can without letting them interrupt you.We found that if you can complete your full melee combo with the jump attack at the end, this is likely to knock over the bear, which can be done 2-3 times in succession. So try to chain these combos for best results.

They won’t just let you push them over though, as they have some powerful moves of their own. They will use a series of swipes, stomps, and flops on the ground to deal huge damage.

The best way to avoid becoming a pancake isby getting behind them to avoid the swipe attacks, and watching them intently in case they throw themselves backward, at which point you can quickly dodge to get some distance.

This will continue until you get their HP down to 50% or less. At which point they will turn up the heat. They will begin this second stage of the fight by pounding the ground and opening fissures where fire will shoot up from. It’s best to back off and watch underfoot for fire. If you see an orange glow, dodge to get out of the way.

They will then use their black wind spell to shoot around the area in their particle form, just as the Black Wind King did in his boss encounter.

This is even more tricky to consistently dodge, so I would urge players to eitheruse their Cloud Step Spellto cast a decoy to absorb the attacks during this segment.Or you can use the Immobilisation spellto completely stop this attack from happening.

Aside from this, the Black Bear Guai’s attacks remain more or less the same. The only added caveat is thattheir attacks now cause burn build-up, which can be a real problem if you get caught up in one of their combos.

So do your best to stay cool during the last stages of this fight by using the Fireproof Mantle. And if you do catch fire, roll around to extinguish yourself.

Rewards For Defeating Black Bear Guai

If you manage to defeat the Black Bear Guai, you will gain the following rewards for your efforts:

The standout reward on this occasion is theCraving Eyesrelic, as it grants you some killer buffs. You’ll be able to choose from the Opportune Watcher, Eagle Eye and Keen Insight buffs, which will increase your critical hit damage, your focus gain from consecutive light attacks, and you’ll also reduce yourCloud Stepcooldown.

So all in all, it’s well worth seeking out, even if you do have to fight a huge, terrifying bear to get it.
