If you think defeating the Blade of Miquella was quite tricky, you are in for a surprise as this newElden Ringbug makes the entire battle an absolute nightmare.

In a new post on the Elden Ring subreddit by useru/Inzealous, we see the ferocious Malenia giving players a taste of defeat even after succumbing herself. In the video, the player uses one of the most deadly attacks in the game, the Comet Azure along with Starscourge Radahn’s signature attack, the Collapsing Stars. While that is enough to take Malenia down, little did they know that her minions have some other plans.

Right after Malenia gets defeated and the “Demigod Felled” text is displayed on the screen, we see Malenia’s phantoms coming after the player and managing to kill all their fellow teammates as well. Malenia’s attacks where she summons the phantoms are one of the trickiest attacks to deal with, but technically, they should disappear after defeating Malenia considering she is the one controlling them. However, it seems like there was some bug that caused the clones to stay and absolutely annihilate the players.

Fans have already started speculating about what this bug entails, with many suggesting that it could be something we could see in a DLC boss since it means that the phantoms are coded separately, and not in unison with Malenia. Considering the fact that we have seen significantly difficult bosses in DLCs in the past (some players still get nightmares about Father Ariandel and Sister Friede), it shouldn’t be that surprising to see this getting implemented. Others have reiterated Malenia’s iconic line, stating that her phantoms ensured that Maleni’s undefeated status remains intact. Obviously, there are some fans writing an ode to Bethesda as well, with the good ol' “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature” remark.

It’s been over a year since Elden Ring was launched, and we still see tons of new stuff surfacing in the community every now and then. Whether it’s players discovering new hidden secrets, or finding unique ways to defeat a boss, the community is always trying to delve deeper into From Software’s meticulous world.
