Hogwarts Legacy’s open-world map is full of many things for players to do and see. As collectibles or challenges are completed, go into the challenge menu and redeem rewards to get unique cosmetic items or bonuses. Merlin Trials can be completed to increase your inventory size and carry more gear items.

The South Sea Bog is the smallest region on the map and only contains two Merlin Trials to complete. While there are many Merlin Trials across the map, there are a few recurring puzzles you’ll continue to see. For these trials, you’ll only need the spell Lumos and your basic attack.
Moths To A Light
This Merlin Trial will have players guidingthree groups of moths to the three green-lit stone structuresaround the trial’s beginning. Being in a bog, there areother fireflies in the area that are not a part of the trialand may confuse you. The moths you are trying to guide are blue and won’t disperse as you walk toward them. There are also a few enemies that are near the trial, and youshould clear them out before trying to guide moths.
Cast Revelio to highlight the pillars you need to bring the moths to, but the moths won’t be highlighted but can beeasily seen from the trial’s start location.Approach the moths andcast Lumos to have the moths follow the player,and don’t stop casting the spell; otherwise, the moths will stop following you. If the spell is stopped, the moths will stay wherever the spell stopped and can be attracted again by recasting Lumos. Bringeach group of moths to a different pillarto complete the trial.

Destroy The Pots
Once this trial is started, nine total pots will spawn in the nearby area that needs to be destroyed. Thefirst three pots are seen nearby the trial’s starting location, and all of the pots can be destroyed simply using your basic attack, with the auto-lock system doing a lot of the work for you. The other six pots are in the lower area, whichhas many goblins nearby.If you don’t mind the fighting, you can clear out the goblins and find the nearbysix pots at the bottom of the clifffrom where the trial started.
If you’d like to circumvent the fighting, theother six pots can be destroyed from the cliffabove at a safe distance from the goblins.Nearby the trial’s start is a platform that goes out over the mine below; walk to the edge to get the remaining pots within range. From the edge,three pots can be seen on the bottom left side, with the other three at the bottom right.Destroying all nine pots will complete the trial.
