These beautifulmagical beastscan be found in various locations across the world ofHogwarts Legacy, however, they can be easy to miss sincethey only show up at night.

Where To Find Mooncalves In The Wild
There are no less than three Mooncalf Dens located conveniently close to Hogwarts and another two of them further down south. You generally don’t need more than a couple of specimens to maintain a steady supply of Mooncalf Fur, but just in case you like the creatures so much that you want to adopt a whole herd of them, you’re able to find the location of all their dens down below.
South Hogwarts Mooncalf Den
This first den is locatedjust east of Hogwartsclose to the Quidditch pitch. There’s even a Floo Flame right next to it appropriately named Mooncalf Den, so you can’t miss it.
Forbidden Forest Mooncalf Dens
The Forbidden Forest is home to not just one but two Mooncalf dens. The first one islocated in the southern part of the regionnext to theSpinners Cave. There’s also a rareUnicorn denjust a stone’s throw away to the east. The quickest way to get there is to fast travel to Upper Hogsfield and then walk west. From the first den,travel northwest in a straight lineand you’ll reach the second one in no time. Alternatively, fast travel to Pitt-Upon-Ford and make your way south from there.

Feldcroft Mooncalf Den
This next one can be foundclose to the hamlet of Feldcroftin the region bearing the same name. You visit the area often while helping outSebastian Sallowso you’re probably already familiar with it. From Feldcroft, travel straight south and you’ll soon spot the den on a hill overlooking the sea.
Poidsear Coast Mooncalf Den
The last den is locatedjust north of Poidsear Castle. If you fast-travel to the castle’s Floo Flame you’ll spot the den right in front of you across a ravine. you’re able to go around the ravine to reach it, but it’s faster to use a flying mount instead.

How To Catch A Mooncalf
UnlikeHippogriffsorKneazles, Mooncalves are fairly easy to capture. The creatures are shy and will run away as soon as you approach, however, they’re slower than other magical beasts so you’re able to easily catch up with them while sprinting. The only thing worth keeping in mind while trying to catch a Mooncalf is that they only come out of their dens at night.
To capture a Mooncalf you’ll need topress the prompt three timesto subdue the creature and a fourth time to actually capture it. Control spells like Levioso and Glacius come in handy if you need to immobilize them while Disillusionment is a must while trying to sneak up on them.
