Last year, the gaming world was rocked when Microsoft announced thatTango Gameworks, the Japanese studio acquired by Bethesda, would shut down.
A Salute to Hi-Fi Rush, Since Microsoft Won’t Give It One
A tribute to Tango’s most creative title.
This was surprising given that Tango Gameworks just releasedHi-Fi Rush, an action-adventure game that not only reviewed well, but was even nominated for several Game of the Year awards in 2023. Thankfully, Tango’s fate changed course as Krafton bought the company last year for an undisclosed sum.
Tango Gameworks Is Back And Working On A New Game
Tango Gameworks' announced their new project as part of the studio’snew logo and website. The studio remains situated in Japan, but with a brand-new identity. “It took us some time, but the official office for Tango Gameworks, Inc. is open, and our hybrid work environment finally has its in-office counterpart,” the studio said.
Thecompany is hiringfor a variety of positions, ranging from senior programmers and animators to IT support and more. It has beenreportedthatthe studio is working on an unannounced action game, which is likely to be the sequel to Hi-Fi Rush, given that Krafton also acquired the IP from Microsoft. However, this acquisition didn’t includeThe Evil Withinor other games developed by the studio.
As one might assume, there is no new info released for the studio’s in-development game. Chances are, we’ll hear more about it soon. Could there be a chance this reveal announcement happens later this week at Summer Game Fest? I wouldn’t be surprised if so, given that Tango was already working on Hi-Fi Rush 2 when Microsoft shut them down.
